Chiddingstone is surrounded by beautiful, open countryside mainly owned by the National Trust. It has been designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are many historic houses to be explored such as Penshurst Place - a mere 5 minutes by car, Hever Castle, Ightham Mote as well as Chiddingstone Castle itself. Chiddingstone has been described as being 'the most perfect surviving example of a Tudor village in the country' due to its row of Tudor houses. Films such as the 1985 Merchant Ivory classic 'Room with a view' and 'Wind in the Willows' have had scenes shot here and the area attracts many artists and keen walkers.
Chiddingstone offers easy access into London being only 30 miles away and easily accessible by car via the M25 or the very efficient rail service from nearby Penshurst Station which is a 5 minute walk from the house and an hour from London.
