Sussex Best Restaurants

The Gallivant Bistro, Camber  01797 225057

Welcome to the Beach Bistro, opposite the dunes of Camber and five miles of uninterrupted golden sand beyond.
Our head chef Trevor Hambley uses fantastic seasonal produce sourced within 30 miles of us creating dishes that put the main ingredient centre stage, menus that interpret some of the classics with a subtle modern twist. Our New England retro British seaside décor is a warm and welcoming destination, a cosy ‘home from home’ to enjoy delicious, perfectly executed cooking, overlooking the windswept dunes. Local fish, often only ‘hours landed’ is a big but not exclusive part of our menu, with our specials board highlighting some of the best and freshest fish you might have the chance to eat!

The George, Rye 01797 224065

Recommended by guests. “The menu has Mediterranean influences and food is presented simply with slavish respect for fresh and seasonal ingredients, sourced from the local farms of Kent and Sussex. Much of the fish and seafooda is freshly caught by the trawlers of Rye Bay. The bar offers a large range of wine by the glass, including those from vineyards in East Sussex and Kent.”

The Tuscan Kitchen  01797 223269

Tuscan Kitchen is located in the heart of the Citadel of Rye and home to Florentine chef Franco and his wife Jen. Building on their experience of running a family farm and restaurant in Tuscany over 25 years, they followed a culinary route to England where their adventure continues.
Franco and Jen throw open their doors with typical Floretine hospitality offering high quality traditional Tuscan food and wine. Their menu includes characteristic dishes cooked with natural ingredients and served with famous Tuscan wines. The combination of an authentic family run rustic Tuscan kitchen set in an olde worlde beamed listed building makes a relaxed "home from home" atmosphere. This small Trattoria has become popular with both local residents and visitors who enjoy its enchanting uniqueness.   http://www.tuscankitchenrye.co.uk/
