Camber Sands is situated to the east of the county of Sussex, 5 miles from the historic town of Rye. The Beach is one of the most dramatic sandy beaches on the south coast 2 ½ miles long and ½ mile wide at low tide. It is an extremely popular holiday destination particularly in the summer months offering a typically English bucket and spade type holiday, but also has an appeal in the fresh autumnal air and a stroll on the deserted beach at Christmas before returning home for a hot chocolate is just perfect. The large expanse of dunes behind the beach is formed from the sand blowing inland and being held in place by the deep rooted Marram grass, traditional chestnut fences also support the dunescape and prevent it from reaching too far inland. They are a haven for wildlife including the brown tail moth caterpillar and sky larks which sing tunefully high above the dunes.

The village of Camber is very close to the beach and has a small selection of shops selling everything you need for a seaside holiday as well as essential provisions. There are a variety of bars and small beach side cafes together with the award winning Gallivant Hotel and brasserie serving breakfast lunch and dinner. Bike hire is available locally and the road eastwards is an easy route out towards the nature reserve and the Pilot pub at Dungeness ,serving the best fish and chips in the county ! Kite surfing is a fantastic sport with a centre located in Camber or for the less adventurous bring your own kite and enjoy the wide open space on the beach.
