Holiday Cottages in Pevensey East Sussex

Pevensey Bay is located on the coast 2 miles to the east of Eastbourne. It is an old fishing village founded in 1600 known then as Wallsend, being the end of Eastbournes sea wall. Today it is still only just above sea level and at high tide in Winter the sea can occasionally break through the defences ! The Pevensey levels to the north is an area of marshland and is a haven for wildlife. In the early 1900's the village became the holiday resort it is today with the pebbled beach extending to the white cliffs at Beachy Head in one direction and Bexhill on Sea to the east. This can be a perfect place to view spectacular sunsets and even in the dark the distant lights of Eastbourne are quite magical.

Today Pevensey Bay it is a small popular tourist village with the main village of Pevensey itself located slightly inland from the beach. Here you will find local shops and pubs and the historical Pevensey castle
