Holiday cottages and self-catering accommodation in Bexhill-on-Sea

Bexhill-on-Sea, as the name suggests, is a bright coastal town that retains much of its period charm. It was popular with Victorian and Edwardian aristocracy, namely the Sackville Hotel. Nowadays, it enjoys its situation as one of the quieter resorts on the East Sussex coast of a certain size. The town is located on the stretch of coast between Eastbourne and Hastings, so it has easy access to 1066 Country, castles and local attractions. Camber Sands, Rye and Dungeness are all within reasonable driving distance too for day trips.

The beach has an elegant two-mile-long promenade. It’s still very characteristic of yesteryear because it’s still possible to hire out beach huts and deckchairs. A major draw is the De La Warr Pavillion, which showcases a full programme of art exhibitions by world-famous artists. If you are a fan of abstract twentieth-century art, this is the place to visit. Other places of historical interest include the Museum of Costume and Social History and the Bexhill Museum, which has a diversity of artefacts including dinosaur bones and items from India and Africa.

The town itself has a good mixture of independent shops and high street favourites. Cafes and restaurants can be found throughout the centre of town. Our Bexhill-on-Sea holiday cottages and self-catering accommodation are therefore great for those looking for a quiet town with all the trappings of a traditional seaside town with a dash of world-class fine art too.
