This converted railway carriage is found at the unique seaside location of Dungeness. Known as England’s only desert, Dungeness is strangely beautiful and often attracts photographers on high-end fashion shoots, thanks to its stunning light qualities. There is also an abundance of wildlife here and it will suit nature lovers and walkers as much as keen photographers. The lighthouse is open to the public on certain days each month and offers great views out to sea. Also nearby is the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, a great day out and you can even see the steam trains go past from the property’s decked area.
The main door to this 1880s railway carriage is to the side of the property and opens into a hallway area for storing boots, etc. The washing machine is also here, as is the property’s original water pump. The property’s living area is light and airy, perfectly in keeping with the surroundings. It has a large comfortable sofa, chair and woodburner, as well as a TV and radio. From here there are beautiful views across the shingle beach with the sea beyond. Stepping through the carriage’s original door will bring you to the kitchen, with all its modern appliances, including electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is also seating for four at the dining table, or on sunny days open the bi-fold doors and enjoy meals out on the decked area. Leading off the lounge is the master bedroom, which has a double bed and a walk-in wardrobe. It also benefits from a seating area in the window. The second bedroom has a single cabin-style bed which easily converts to a double, there is also a telescope in here, and the unpolluted Dungeness skies make stargazing here a fascinating experience. The bright bathroom has a shower over the bath. Please note that height is restricted in certain areas of the property.
Step outside this property and straight into the stunning nature reserve. There is a decked area with table and chairs, which leads directly onto the shingle and, to the rear of the property, an original railway bench from Dungeness station. Parking is available for two cars.
