Property code: WCC12

Located at the heart of the seaside town of Whitstable, this property sits within easy reach of the High Street and the art galleries and independent stores it is known for, as well as plenty of eateries. The town's beaches and fishing harbour both lie within 0.5 miles of the door, while the historic castle is under 1 mile away, just waiting to be explored by families or a group of friends.

The cottage's light and airy lounge welcomes guests, with a warming wood burner in the exposed stone fireplace to alleviate the chill on cooler days. This leads on to a separate dining room and then to a galley-style kitchen, with the added option to dine alfresco in the private patio area. Upstairs, three bedrooms are arranged over two floors, with a king-size room and a double bedroom on the first floor, and a twin room with a sloping ceiling (and reduced head-height) on the second floor accessible trough the double bedroom and via steep stairs; a bathroom with a bath and separate shower is also found on the first floor.

With Whitstable's amenities almost on the doorstep, there is plenty to see and do without having to jump in a car, whether it's a day on the beach or a walk along the Sussex Shore Way. Nor is it necessary to use a car to travel further afield, as regular trains run to and from London's St Pancras International station. Trains continue from Whitstable to the seaside town of Margate, 19 miles to the east, with its contemporary art gallery, vintage-themed pleasure park and sandy beach, complete with tide pool. Alternatively, a 7-mile bus or car ride south leads to the historic streets of Canterbury, and the chance to walk in the footsteps of Chaucer's pilgrims.

  • 3 bedrooms: 1 king-size, 1 double and 1 twin which is accessed through the double bedroom and up steep stairs
  • 2 bathrooms: 1 wet room with WC on the ground floor and 1 family bathroom with bath, separate shower, and WC
  • Oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, Nespresso Original coffee machine, dishwasher and washing machine
  • Wood burner
  • Smart TV and DVD in the lounge
  • Patio garden at the front with table and chairs
  • Private parking for 1 car
  • Shops, pubs, and beach within walking distance
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • Sorry, no dogs allowed
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £250 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £30. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

This was our second visit to Pirates Cottage. Great location for accessing the town, beach and surrounding areas. The cottage is full of charm and in the main the property has most of what we needed to accommodate our needs. Beautiful little cottage in excellent position. Well-equipped and comfortable. The top room was steep to get to and does not have a bathroom (accessible through one of the lower bedrooms) and this is hard for adults but probably fine for children. Pirates Cottage was an excellent choice for us. It is ideally situated and has the great boon of a parking space (although be aware when pulling out that traffic comes both ways on Middle Wall). The cottage was immaculately presented and very well thought out. We shall certainly visit again if we can. The stairs are steep, its true, but go with theRead more style of the cottage. PS our little grandson loved spotting the pirates, and would like to live in Pirates Cottage all the time if he can. Hide

A lovely, cosy cottage in an excellent location with the added bonus of a parking space. You need to be aware that the stairs leading up the the twin room on the 2nd floor have very little headroom. It's fine once you're up there but our 6ft 4in son had to come down in reverse (like a ladder) as it was too low.
