Invigorating country and coastal walks await with a stay at this delightful cottage set among pretty flower-filled gardens. Being close to the historic town of Battle, it's also well placed for exploring 1066 country and all that. This quiet rural spot in East Sussex is ideal for couples looking for a romantic bolthole just for two. After a busy day of sightseeing, enjoy a long relaxing soak in the deep slipper bath.

Located in the owner's grounds, the property is snug, homely and beautifully decorated, with lots of lovely finishing touches – including a friendly resident owl! The open-plan living area maximises the space and gives it a bright and airy feel. Prepare a romantic dinner for two in the bespoke kitchen and eat in or outside on the patio depending on your mood – and the weather. Then curl up together on the sofa in front of the coal effect electric fire in the lounge to watch a rom-com on the Smart TV. Alternatively, you can wind down before bedtime by reading a book in the rocking chair or heading up the steep stairs to enjoy a bubble-filled bath. Feeling relaxed and refreshed, you'll be ready for a restful night's sleep in the king-size wrought iron bed.

The cottage is close to farm shops and good pubs, so you'll be sure to eat well on your holiday. It's also handily placed for visiting several National Trust properties, including Bateman's (3.5 miles) and Bodiam Castle (7.5 miles). Keen gardeners will be in their element, with Sarah Raven's Perch Hill, King John's Nursery and Pashley Manor Gardens all within 6 miles of the property. Those craving some refreshing sea air can take the 14-mile trip to Hastings and walk along the coast towards the medieval town of Rye.

The cottage is very comfortable and Mrs Rogers is a charming hostess. Central location ideal for discovering the heritage of Sussex and Kent. Many National Trust properties nearby. Lovely, large garden for reading your current novel after a day's sightseeing. The garden is bordered by a minor road with little traffic.
