Need a cosy getaway with your other half, where you can take long walks through the rolling hills of Kent followed by quiet evenings in by the wood burner? This sweet brick cottage for two is the perfect spot. It's in Tenterden, a traditional market town which is the starting point for many wonderful walks in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It's perfect for a couples' holiday, and you can take two dogs along too – they'll love the garden and surrounding countryside almost as much as you (and possibly more).
This homely brick house sits in a row of similar houses. The inside is decorated in a vintage-inspired style, with traditional furniture and tasteful artwork on the walls. After a day out exploring the area, nestle into the sofa and relax with a film on the Smart TV, which includes the Sky package for plenty of choice. On a sunny morning, make a cooked breakfast using local ingredients and take it out into the cottage-style garden to be enjoyed in the fresh air. There's even a quaint summer house – in brick to match the main house – to be enjoyed.
Tenterden has three lovely pubs within half a mile of the cottage, as well as independent shops and restaurants where you can eat out if you don't fancy cooking. For walks you'll be spoilt for choice – you're right on the edge of High Weald, an AONB. The 2.5-mile stretch to Small Hythe is ideal for a morning jog. For a day out, head to Rye (10 miles), famous for its old town and antiques shops, or Camber (14.5 miles) where you can swim in the sea and picnic among the sand dunes.
