Located in the sweet village of East Hoathly, this lovely two-bed brick property makes an excellent springboard for an East Sussex holiday. You’ll be just 500 metres from a local pub, shop and café, making it easy to get everything you need without having to jump in the car. Locally, embark on excellent walks or cycle rides in the stunning South Downs National Park (6 miles) or High Weald National Landscape (3 miles). Glyndebourne, the renowned opera house, is 7.5 miles away, opening up opportunities for musical evenings, picnicking and dining in style. The historic town of Lewes (9 miles) is packed with quirky independent shops and cosy pubs where you can enjoy a hearty meal or a refreshing drink. Or, when the sea air calls, head to the sleepy seaside town of Seaford (14.5 miles) or spend a day in the bustling resort of Eastbourne (15 miles), with its charming Victorian pier.

This period property has been lovingly updated with respect for its original style, with its pretty stained glass and sash windows, stable-style doors and tasteful wooden furniture. You’ll enter through the front porch – handy for leaving coats and shoes – then find yourself in a cosy lounge, featuring sofas, a Smart TV and a charming open fire. The Smart TV in here is discreetly hidden behind a mirror above the fireplace. From the lounge, head into the fully equipped kitchen with a wood-topped breakfast island and two stools for perching with coffee and breakfast. A couple of steps lead you to the glorious light-filled conservatory. This delightful space, a later addition to the original building, features a dining table, a sofa and an armchair so you can dine, read and chat overlooking the garden. Back in the kitchen, stairs lead up to the first floor, where you’ll find a comfortable double bedroom, along with a large bathroom with a bath, a shower and pretty floor tiles in black, white and grey. The second set of stairs leads to the top floor, where a king-size bedroom is located in the eaves.

In mild weather, make the most of the spacious enclosed garden featuring a large lawn, a furnished patio and a fire pit to keep you warm late into the night. Private parking at the front of the property accommodates two cars.

We really enjoyed our stay and meeting David. Really lovely little cottage, well located, nice walks just across the road and very friendly locals. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen( could easily cook a family roast dinner) and an excellent shower with terrific pressure, not forgetting the longest bath ever. Would highly recommend.
