This cottage is attached to another holiday property in the village of Newchurch, 3 miles west of Dymchurch in one of the oldest parts of Romney Marsh. The village has a 12th-century church as well as a restaurant and makes for an excellent base for walking, cycling and bird watching, including along the Royal Military Canal. Climb aboard the miniature railway at Hythe (8 miles) and take a trip to the shingle headland at Dungeness or catch a steam train from Tenterden (15 miles) to the ancient castle at Bodiam. Port Lympne Safari Park is 7 miles away and the Eurotunnel and Dover are within easy reach for channel crossings.

The cottage retains many of its original beams and the open-plan lounge/dining area/kitchen includes a comfortable sofa, an armchair and a TV as well as a dining table and chairs. The ground-floor bathroom features a bath with a hand-held shower attachment. Head up the carpeted stairs, which have a handrail, to the first of the bedrooms – a double with a TV, and a sink unit with a kettle for a morning cuppa, as well as Velux windows with blackout blinds. There are also two single bedrooms, one with a 2’6” bed that is more suitable for a child. There is also a shower room on this floor.

The property has its own private patio area in a garden shared with the owners, that has countryside views that stretch for miles. Along with patio furniture, you have a BBQ at your disposal. Please note, the owners have a friendly dog who often likes to say hello.

Property did the job for us and the grandchildren. You definitely need a car when staying here as it's about a 15 minute drive to get onto any main roads. Lots of tourist leaflets to look through but sadly many of them years out of date

Property was easy to reach in a beautiful part of Kent, which allowed us to explore the surrounding area and visit several places to which we had been before (Rye, Broadstairs, Pluckley, Brookland). All in all a perfectly sited location.

So lucky with the weather - Autumn sun and colours are beautiful. Revisiting childhood haunts around Dover and the villages and of course 'The Castle'. This is the perfect base, well equipped, so comfortable. Recommend The Cobblers Tea Room in Rye for a cream tea. RHDR of course too.

NT properties worth a visit are Chartwell, Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, White Cliffs. Also recommend Dover Castle, Breznett Aeronautical Museum and walking along military canal from Hythe. At Hastings East Hill Funicular Railway up to nature reserve gives great views over Hastings!

The cottage was cosy. Had days out in St Marys Bay, Hastings, Lydd, Biddenden, Tenterden and watched Air Display in Eastbourne. Shopping wise, Sainsburys in New Romney good! Weather good, only 1 pm of rain. Lucy very friendly!

We have had an enjoyable week, despite our activities being limited by the heatwave! Both ourselves and our dog loved the garden and the weeping willow. Recommendations: The restaurant in Newchurch, The Fish Shack in Dungeness, The Red Lion in Snargate, The Railway and in particular, the guy selling the best coffee at St Marys Bay

We've had a lovely week in the cottage, nice quiet place with everything we need. We went to Dungeness in the lovely little train and to Dover Castle and Lympne Safari Park. The children loved to swim in the sea!

Great place for us to base ourselves for a wedding at The Priory. The weather has been perfect too!

Thank you for a lovely stay, our dog adored Lucy. Although we have not had much luck with our car we enjoyed our stay in the cottage. So quiet!
