Property code: OC-RH1158

A grand, four-storey Regency townhouse with playful and stylish interiors, this is a terrific base for an extended group of family or friends taking a seaside holiday together. Located just a few steps from the town’s glorious sand and shingle beach, morning dips and evening strolls along the promenade will prove irresistible, as will rambles around leafy St Leonards Gardens just one street north. Neighbouring Hastings has no shortage of family-friendly attractions, with the pier funfair, Hastings Aquarium, Smugglers Adventure and Hastings Castle among the most popular and all within 2 miles of the property. The East Hill and West Hill funicular railways offer a fun ride as well as spectacular views over the town and out to sea from their respective hill-tops. Back down on ground level, set aside a few happy hours to explore the independent shops, galleries, cafes and pubs of Hastings’ artsy, winding Old Town.

This Grade II-listed St Leonards-on-Sea property has been renovated with flair to highlight the elegant features of the original architecture. On the ground floor, a dual-aspect lounge/diner is a spacious room with Chesterfield sofas and armchairs gathered around a working period fireplace at one end and a dining table and chairs at the other, a super space for a large group enjoying convivial, relaxed evenings together. There’s a triple bedroom with striking, custom-built wooden bunks that kids will love and a handy cloakroom on this floor too. At basement level, there’s a kitchen/diner with a Rangemaster five-hob cooker, Shaker-style units and marble worktops, as well as a large dining table and chairs, flanked by a wood burner and window bench seating, cinema room with comfy seating and a shower room. The first floor of the property has two generously proportioned bedrooms – one king-size and one double – and a bathroom with a bath and a handheld shower. On the second floor are two further bedrooms – a double and a twin with lovely sea views – and another bathroom, this one with a bath and a walk-in shower.

To the rear, the property has a sheltered courtyard garden spread over two tiers, with a table and chairs as well as bench seating, perfect for unwinding outdoors in good weather.

We had a lovely weekend at the house, cosy in front of the fire while a wild winter storm blew outside. The location is fabulous and the housekeeper and owner were incredibly helpful and accommodating in the lead up to and during our stay. We enjoyed some lovely local restaurants and coffee shops and also family meals around the kitchen table in fRead moreront of the wood burner. The cinema room was a winner with the teenagers! The house is a lovely mix of elegant style and relaxed comfort making it the ideal getaway. Hide

We had a wonderful time. The spacious property was perfect for a three generation family break between Christmas and New Year. The Christmas decorations in the lounge were great and added a good atmosphere. The location was excellent, so close to the beach. The house is very spacious which allowed room for us all to be together or spend time apaRead morert! The beds were incredibly comfortable too. The only thing that fell short was the weather - not that youre responsible for that! Thank you Hide
