Sat amid woodland and farmland, this single-storey cottage offers a true escape to the country, whether you’re seeking a romantic bolthole for two or a base for a small family or group of walkers. This is a wonderful location for walking with plenty of trails from your doorstep, while stargazers will love the lack of light pollution, enabling marvellous views of the night sky. Barham (2.8 miles) has a choice of amenities, including a village pub, general store and post office, and it’s home to Simpsons Wine Estate (3 miles) where you can enjoy a vineyard tour and local wine tasting. The city of Canterbury is just 8 miles away, home to a magnificent cathedral plus St Augustine’s Abbey and St Martin’s Church, which together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Running from Canterbury to the seaside town of Hythe, the Elham Valley Way meanders through ancient woodland and enchanting countryside, offering lovely walking trails – it’s worth stopping at the picturesque town of Elham too (3 miles).

Located next to the owner’s home, this holiday cottage has been fully renovated, with a fresh, contemporary feel. Enter via the front porch, which has space to store coats and boots, and a door to the hallway and cloakroom. The main living area is open plan with wood effect flooring and cosy rugs throughout. The contemporary kitchen is horseshoe-shaped with countryside views from the window, and a door leading to the utility room. There’s a dining table for four, and a comfortable seating area with two sofas and double doors leading to the front decking. Down the corridor are two pretty, cosy bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with country views, along with a stylish, fully tiled bathroom.

A raised decking area to the front of the property has a rattan table and chairs, offering a lovely spot for al fresco drinks or dining. To the rear is an enclosed garden featuring a stone patio with bistro table and chairs and two sun loungers, surrounded by lawn with countryside beyond.

What a fabulous place to stay! We took our dog Rufus to Valley View and it could not be more dog friendly - super lovely host, the location was fantastic and the property exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be back!

Valley View is a wonderful property for a quiet stay and we would highly recommend it. The property is beautifully presented and is warm and cosy. The views are wonderful and the hostess is extremely friendly and helpful. It is very dog friendly with walks from the doorstep into the woods. We took 2 dogs and my youngest literally had the time Read moreof his life! He could not wait to get out in the morning. The surrounding area is beautiful and fully deserves its designation as an AONB. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of dog friendly coffee shops we found. Pubs also dog friendly in the main and the food was by and large of a very good standard. Hide

Valley View is a special place to spend a few days - we were lucky with the weather and enjoyed walking through the empty fields and tracks. Everything was at hand to cook a full meal. All very comfortable. My dog and I would love to return.

Remote rural location means true peace and quiet, which is what we were looking for. Very friendly owner, cottage was well furnished and modern inside. The nearest village shop in Barham is about 3 or 4 miles away but quite well.stocked. We really enjoyed our time chilling at Valley View, totally recommended

A perfect cottage in an amazing area! We stayed here with 4 adults and 2 medium sized dogs and this was no problem. The kitchen is fully equipped and the cottage is super clean. Scarlett advised on a nice route we could walk from the cottage, we recommend to do this walk :) We have fallen in love with the garden of England for sure!

The price was unclear and did change every time. That was annoying. The owner/host of the property was very kind and charming, with lots of suggestions for trips in the environment.

We enjoyed a beautiful fortnight in the charming and clean Valley View. The view from the house is special and spectacular. Waking up in the morning and seeing the view from the terrace is so beautiful and peaceful. Nature is amazing in this part of England. We had a wonderful holiday at Valley View. The property was perfect for us & very well equipped with everything we, including our dog, could possibly need. It was warm, comfortable and clean. Thank you for such a warm welcome. We will miss you. From the first day we fell in love with your wonderful location. The view is amazing and we enjoyed the quiet and nature very much. It was our first stay in England and we are absolutely enchanted from the beauty of this country and its warm-hearted people. From Valley View we could visit so Read moremany lovely English places. We have had a wonderful week. Thank you for everything! The comfortable, clean, well organised cottage with wonderful views, and your thoughtful little extras. All the up-to-date leaflets giving more ideas of things to do to. All the friendliness, help and advice. Highlights for us were Whitstable The Lobster5 Shack, Walk from White Cliffs ViRead moresitor Centre near Dover to South Foreland Lighthouse and back. Walks from the cottage in Covet Woods, lovely tracks and trees. Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-Le-Ferne. Blean Woods near Whitstable, beautiful woodlands and interesting sculpture trail, high quality tracks. We have had a truly memorable week exploring the Kent coast. Thanks again for making it so easy! Thank you Scarlett for a wonderful stay! Your own little valley is quite delightful and a secluded refuge, with peace and tranquillity in abundance. The cottage is immaculate and a great credit to all your hard work, dedication and devotion. The Locality has provided breath-taking natural scenes this week including wild orchids at Wye Down, YorkRead moreletts Down and Park Gate Down (rare Monkey Orchid included). To be awoken by the song of the Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Whitethroat, as well as Song Thrush, Blackbird, Robin and Chaffinch is a special treat, in a special place. Top visits for the family included, Sissinghurst, Scotney and Walmer Castles, and Goodnestone and Chartwell. Top pubs were the Bell at Lydden, the Anchor at Wingham, the Red Lion at Bridge. Top Cafes were The Fifth Trust at Elham and the Lord Whiskey at Lyminge. Also learning just a little about the Royal Navy over the centuries around the Kent coast, including the Downs and the Great Storm of 1703, the Cinque Ports, the Limb Ports and the lost harbours of Sandwich and Tenterden, has been fascinating. Well appointed cottage in a stunning valley location. Peaceful and quiet, yet just 15 mins from the centre of Canterbury with easy access to the A2. The property is very dog friendly with well fenced grounds. The owner couldnt do more to make us feel welcome. Will definitely return.

We had so much fun staying at the Valley View cottage with this lovely cottage and beautiful surrounding area, we had a great time. It was perfect for our dog as well. We had always wanted to see the bluebells in bloom, and it was magical!!
