The charming cottage sits within a 70-acre stud farm in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, with the owner’s farmhouse adjacent to the property. Sleeping four guests, the cottage makes a relaxing couples’ retreat or country bolthole for a small family. A 1-mile stroll will bring you to Wisborough Green, a quintessentially English village with a real community spirit. Share a picnic on the village green, or dine amongst the locals in one of the cosy pubs. The cottage sits on the fringe of the South Downs National Park, with its rolling green hills, and chalk grasslands. The area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists, and you can join the long-distance South Downs Way at Upper Beeding, just 16 miles from the property. Nearby day trips include a visit to see the fine collection of artworks at the National Trust’s Petworth House and Park (7.5 miles), or an afternoon pottering around the excellent shops in the cathedral city of Chichester (22 miles).

The cottage retains many of its original features and has been decorated in a traditional style, with pretty soft furnishings and delicate accessories. The accommodation is arranged across one level and has an open-plan layout, making it a very sociable holiday home. A small kitchen area has been cleverly designed to include everything you need to prepare a tasty meal, which can be enjoyed together around the table by the window. After dinner, retire to the sumptuous sofa or armchair to read a book or watch a film on the TV/DVD. At the end of the day, choose from a gorgeous dual-aspect king-size bedroom or an inviting twin, both of which enjoy peaceful countryside views. Completing the property is a stylish bathroom.

Outside, there is a lovely, enclosed garden with a table and chairs for al fresco dining; unwind with a glass of wine and watch the wildlife coming and going in the pond. In summer months (May-September), you’ll have shared access to a fabulous solar-heated outdoor pool, so don’t forget to pack your swimwear.

We had a lovely week in the property. The beds were very comfortable and there was lots of hot water. It's very quiet and the swimming pool is great!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stable Cottage. The owner, Sarah, was friendly and helpful and the cottage was homely and comfortable. It felt a special place with its own garden and pond (complete with duck and ducklings) and the swimming pool was ideal for relaxing after a day's sightseeing.
