This traditional basement two-bed flat offers a welcoming retreat for a family or two couples in a brilliantly central part of popular Broadstairs, almost exactly opposite the beach. An upmarket destination in the Victorian era and beyond, there’s stacks to do here. The beach has to be the first port of call or, for green outside space, cross the street and pop into Victoria Gardens for an old-school park with a bandstand, promenade and lift down to Viking Bay. Try the local mini golf if you fancy getting competitive. Check out Charles Dickens' connection with the area at the quaint Dickens House Museum. Venturing slightly further afield, there’s art at Turner Contemporary and fair rides at Dreamland in Margate, 4 miles away. Ramsgate’s wartime tunnel complex is a fascinating glimpse back in time and only 2.5 miles away. Botany Bay is home to impressive chalk stacks and is just over 3 miles – so a decent walk or short drive, depending on what suits you.

Enter the elegant, shared entrance foyer at this property and either go down some stairs to this basement apartment or take the lift. There’s another possible stair-free entrance via the rear too, so access is no problem. Once inside your holiday home, there’s practical storage for coats and shoes in the hallway. The open-plan living/dining room is light and airy with an eclectic mix of furnishings and a beautiful big bay window looking out to the front terrace and up to street level. Bright but private all at once. Eat at the dining table with trendy bench seating or two can eat at the bistro table in the contemporary galley kitchen. Recline and unwind while you read on the four-poster king-size in the en-suite master bedroom, and for an extra holiday treat, doors lead from here out to the rear terrace courtyard. There’s a practical and welcoming twin bedroom too for restful nights. The en-suite is a shower room, while the family bathroom has a bath for enjoying a soak – both have sleek contemporary fixtures and styling.

Outside, there’s not one, but two terraced areas that are perfect for morning cuppas or evening aperitifs. A small terrace with a bistro table sits in the well to the front, so you can be outside and feel totally private. To the rear, there’s a larger courtyard with garden furniture and storage for beach toys. To avoid steps on entering the property, there’s a gate with a keypad here – the code for the keypad is inside the apartment. The verdant expanse of Victoria Gardens is just across the road and the beach only slightly beyond that, so al fresco capers are near guaranteed.

We tried very hard to find something negative to say about this property, but couldnt. We just loved the comfort, style, size and location. The design details were appreciated (straw bag and little bench in kitchen!) as were high spec utensils and kitchen ware. Truly great space and we hope to come back!
