This wonderful three-storey cottage is set in the heart of the vibrant village of Rottingdean and is perfect for groups of friends and families looking for an exciting break away. There are ample pubs, restaurants and cafes right on the property’s doorstep and for a spot of retail therapy, Rottingdean also boasts several independent shops. The beach is just a couple of minutes' stroll away where you can take a lovely walk along the cliff-tops or to the Beacon Hill Windmill and Nature Reserve. The seaside town of Brighton, just 4 miles away, needs no introduction. Whether it’s a trip to the pier with its fantastic arcades and funfair or fish and chips on the beach, Brighton is a must-visit if you fancy a traditional day at the seaside. For something a little more grown-up, Brighton also offers a range of incredibly fashionable bars, restaurants and pubs, perfect to unwind in after all the fun at the fair. If it’s retail therapy you’re after, Brighton is a shopper’s paradise. Wander down the lanes full of vintage clothing and jewellery shops or meander around North Laine which oozes retro-chic and boasts the largest selection of independent retailers on the South Coast.

This beautiful property blends country-cottage charm with ultra-contemporary furnishings, offering a truly special place to stay. Guests will enter this delightful cottage through the back door, taking you straight to the stylish kitchen. The lounge/dining room is a truly impressive space with exposed brick, a large open fire and comfortable velvet sofas, as well as a large dining table with seating for six. Steep cottage-style stairs lead down to the cellar where you will find the washing machine and tumble dryer. On the first floor are a single bedroom with an additional pull-out bed, a king-size bedroom and a smart bathroom with a deep, free-standing bath and a rainfall shower. Steep cottage-style stairs lead to the second floor where you’ll find a well-furnished king-size mezzanine bedroom (no door), which then leads through to a double bedroom.

Outside, guests will find an enclosed garden with a patio area, garden furniture and a gas BBQ.

This is NOT a 5* property. Located close to Brighton is a real win, however it's on a main road near the junction and so the constant queening traffic is not only incredibly loud in all rooms of the house, but often made it stink of exhaust fumes. The letterbox is jammed open and the single glazed windows don't seal properly. The photos are misleadRead moreing, the property is smaller than it looks. It also has a photo of grass in the garden which has been paved over. We would not have booked had we known. To get to the property you have to walk through another properties garden and the poor owner is so fed up of dogs using that to do their business. The stairs are steep with a wobbly banister on the first floor and low ceilings to navigate around on the second. The bath/shower is very high and so this property is not suitable for heavily pregnant or elderly people. The parking is a real faff, must be chaos in the summer. Other issues shared in a complaint. This was one of the worst cottages I have ever stayed in. The photos are misleading and do not reflect the true condition of the property. The house was poorly cleaned, the carpets were old and dirty, and the basement was in a very bad state. In addition, the cottage is located next to a very busy street, with constant traffic noise. The windows dRead moreo not seal properly, so cold air and noise come straight into the house, making it uncomfortable at all times. Overall, it was a major disappointment. What appears online as a charming holiday home is, in reality, not at all suitable for a relaxing stay. I would strongly advise others to avoid this property. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. The cellar issue has now been resolved and was caused by an unexpected burst water pipe in the road during your stay. As the cellar is used only for storage and laundry, it is not advertised as part of the living space. Our family of 2 adults and 4 teenagers spent a week at this property. In terms of equipment the house had everything we could possibly want and the living space, whilst modest in terms of size was very comfortable. Being teenagers our youngsters spent a lot of time in thier allocated room. Were everyone wish to be in the lounge at the same time it Read morewould be tight. Also, not a problem for us but the stairs are quite tight and steep so if you are not good on your feet maybe check before booking. The location is great. Rottingdean is a lovely village. There is a well known mini supermarket virtually next door, plenty of pubs, a butcher and a grocer. The beach is very close so much so it was no hassle to pop back for a drink or the loo! It's proximity to Brighton is excellent. We never used our car all week because the bus service is brilliant. They are every few minutes and accompanied children travel for free. Speaking of cars there is no parking. We knew and understood this so no problem. There is a pay car park very close which we used for loading and unloading and then on street parking a few minutes walk away was easily found. Cottage is ideally located for the beautiful village of Rottindean and The South Downs and Brighton can be easily reached by a good bus service. The cottage had everything we needed all good quality and clean, might be a bit cosy if all six people where there together for a long time. Cottage very well equipped, could do with being aired before use as smelt of damp,bus service into Brighton brilliant every ten minutes.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage and would highly recommend it to a friend. There was plenty of stuff to do near by and all amenities you could need in the cottage. I would come back.
