This cottage was built in around 1500 and is attached to the owner’s medieval hall house on Sissinghurst High Street. You can walk to the village pub, less than half a mile away, for a great selection of food and drink, and a general store is across the road. Sissinghurst Castle Garden, created by the poet and author Vita Sackville-West and one of the most famous gardens in England, is just 1 mile away, and the medieval town of Cranbrook is 2 miles away. Kent is known as the Garden of England for good reason, and there are numerous local vineyards and farm shops to explore, as well as beaches, forest walks and cycle paths.
The cottage offers spacious and bright accommodation with original beams and antique furniture. Enter the house through the cosy kitchen. The open-plan sitting room features original brick flooring, an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner for cosy evenings in, and a door to the garden. The dining area is separated from the sitting room with original feature timbers and has a large dining table and chairs as well as a bridge table and an antique sideboard. A separate snug has a large sofa and a chair and is a great place to read a book or listen to music. The stairs are original, with deep-set wooden steps and a handrail, and lead to the two carpeted bedrooms, one a double with a well-stocked bookcase and the other a twin. The bathroom has original wooden flooring and a shower over the bath.
A small garden to the side of the property has a wooden bench and a table where you can dine among the flowers.
