This iconic 14th-century moated castle, managed by the National Trust, is a must-visit for medieval history enthusiasts. A 7-mile drive takes you to Battle, where you can explore Battle Abbey and walk the famous battlefield. If you are looking for a family day out, Epic Life (2 miles) offers activities such as paddleboarding and kayaking or choose to spend the day at Camber Sands (14 miles), a fabulous stretch of unspoilt sandy beach. A trip to Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest (8 miles) boasts stunning trails through one of the UK’s most impressive tree collections. After a day of exploring, you’ll find plenty of cosy pubs and great dining spots nearby, or choose to walk around the owner’s vineyard nearby.

Step into this beautifully converted barn and make yourself at home. Kick-off muddy boots and hang up coats in the welcoming entrance hallway before heading through to the first of two impressive living spaces. With lofty vaulted ceilings, plush sofas, and a Smart TV, this open-plan lounge is made for relaxing, while a handy desk area means you can squeeze in some work (if you really must). The sleek, fully equipped kitchen comes with a central island and bar stools for casual breakfasts, alongside a dining table that comfortably seats eight for family feasts and celebratory meals. Tucked next to the kitchen, a useful utility space with a washer and dryer helps keep holiday gear fresh. Just off the lounge, you’ll also find a convenient cloakroom. On the ground floor, there’s a luxurious king-size bedroom with its own en-suite shower room. A connecting door leads to the second side of the barn, offering even more space for your group to spread out. Here, you’ll find another fully equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge, a super king-size bedroom, and a stylish shower room – ideal for extra privacy or multi-generational stays. Head back through the connecting door and up the stairs to discover two bedrooms, each with its own en-suite. The Family bedroom boasts a bath and shower, and the super king, a sleek shower room.

Outside, patios to the rear and side of the barn provide fantastic spaces to soak up the countryside air. Dine alfresco at the outdoor seating area, fire up the BBQ for a laid-back feast, or sink into the bubbling hot tub for the ultimate evening treat. With off-road parking for up to four cars, this spacious and stylish barn is well-designed for memorable group getaways.

Really lovely house. All the amenities you need and the second kitchen is so handy for a dinner party! There is enough space so you feel like you can spread out a bit and the annex is great for people who want a bit of privacy. Lovely location, you can walk up to the village (10 mins) and the pub is lovely. We had lunch and drinks, very nice. For our party of 7, inc 3 couples, this barn conversion was perfect. An excellent property, very well equipped. No skimping on items like toilet paper, dish washer tablets etc and a friendly and responsive owner. If only every holiday let was so well managed.

We had a wonderful restful stay at the Barn It is well located for visiting Bodiam and Battle Castles, Great Dixter and Rye. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and the lack of light pollution makes for amazing star gazing. The Barn has very well equipped kitchens, which made cooking a real pleasure too.

There were 8 of us that stayed at this amazing property, for 3 nights and it was absolutely stunning. Spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. The living space was bright, comfortable and a great size, perfect for socialising. Bedrooms were large with big en-suite shower rooms and very comfortable beds with crisp white linen. Large bathRead more towels and complementary shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Both kitchens are well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Sally the owner, left an impressive amount of basic item for our use. Dish washer tablets, loads of different varieties of coffee pods, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, oil, cleaning products. Very impressed with how much stuff was left. Lovely large soft towels for the hot tub. Great outdoor space, plenty of seating and a big table for alfresco dining. The whole barns was cleverly thought out, you never felt like you were on top of each other. Sally was always on hand to answer any question or help with anything we needed.
