The chocolate-box cottage is in the historic seaside town of Shoreham-by-Sea and sleeps six guests, making it ideal for large families and groups of friends. A short, 1-mile stroll will bring you to the town’s seafront, where you’ll find a bustling harbour and a great choice of independent eateries. Heading west from the harbour, a vast, shingle beach stretches out in front of you. This is a great place for a bracing walk or a little paddle in the sea. The area is a haven for walkers, with several long-distance routes to explore, including the South Downs Way which runs the entire length of the South Downs National Park, and can be joined at Upper Beeding, 4 miles away. Just 6 miles along the coast, you’ll reach Brighton, with its spectacular array of quirky shops, cafes, and restaurants, as well as a whole host of family attractions, including the Palace Pier, British Airways i360, Royal Pavilion, and an aquarium.
The period property oozes character and charm, with many original features and a fine collection of stunning antique furniture. Enter the cottage directly from the road and into an inviting hallway, with a table and chairs, along with a writing desk. From here, move into the cosy lounge, where striking exposed beams run across the ceiling, and comfortable seating is arranged around an ornamental fireplace. Spend quality time together in here, playing games, chatting about your day, or watching a film on the TV/DVD. The cottage boasts two lounges on the ground floor, and the second is a lovely place to curl up with a book on a chilly winter’s afternoon. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook for the group and, also on this floor, you’ll find a magnificent formal dining room for hosting dinner parties and family celebrations. Two flights of cottage-style stairs at either end of the property lead to the first floor, where you’ll discover four elegant bedrooms. When it’s time to say goodnight, choose from one of the two double bedrooms or one of the two single bedrooms (please note that one of the single bedrooms can only be accessed via one of the double bedrooms). Completing the holiday home are two family bathrooms. Due to the property’s age, you can expect to find sloping ceilings and low beams throughout the cottage, meaning you may experience restricted head height in some areas.
Outside, an enclosed cottage garden awaits, with a lawn for children to play on, as well as outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. There is a cute summerhouse where you can spend some quiet time.
