Embrace nature in this gorgeous holiday home nestled in the Kent countryside. The property sleeps six guests and is perfect for friends and family looking to switch off and recharge. The cottage looks out across Romney Marsh: 100 square miles of flat marshland that’s just begging to be explored on foot or by bike. Set off along one of the many tracks or trails from the property to discover a unique and largely unspoilt landscape, teeming with rare plants and wildlife. Due to its sparse population, the area is also fantastic for star gazing. If it’s fresh, sea air you’re after, then head southeast to explore one of the many beaches dotted along this stretch of coastline. Dungeness (15 miles) offers a wild and remote shingle beach and stunning sunsets, whereas Hythe Beach (9 miles) has a more traditional feel, with a long promenade and stalls selling ice creams and fish and chips. A great way to explore the area is aboard the steam locomotives of the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, which journey back and forth along the coast.

This magnificent barn conversion has been lovingly renovated and really does have the wow factor. A spectacular open-plan living area is at the heart of the home, with striking exposed woodwork, vibrant soft furnishings, and a collection of fabulous artwork and accessories, all carefully chosen to reflect the surrounding landscape. This sociable space is perfect for spending quality time with loved ones, whether that’s cooking together in the stylish kitchen, sharing delicious local produce at the wooden dining table, or snuggling up on the Italian leather sofa to watch a film on SkyTV. A sleek shower room completes the ground floor. Stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll find three inviting bedrooms. The first is a king-size with an en-suite shower room, and there is also a double bedroom and a twin.

To the front of the property, there is an exquisite, screened Mediterranean garden with outdoor furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. To the rear of the cottage, you’ll find an alternative area for outdoor entertaining, with a choice of seating, including sun loungers, and tables for enjoying mealtimes in the sunshine. A boardwalk leads away from here, offering a quiet place for reflection and wildlife watching, and there is also a fenced pond within the grounds (children should be supervised at all times). Guests are welcome to use the owner’s tennis court by prior arrangement and explore their colourful garden, which is open to the public twice a year as part of the National Garden Scheme.

We had a great stay here and really enjoyed the house, the stunning garden and the tennis court. The house is very well-equipped and comfortable and Bill and Penny are lovely hosts.

The cottage is next door to the owners, but completely private and you are welcome to use the whole garden, which is really large and beautiful, and the tennis court, for which they kindly provide tennis racquets and balls in the house. The owners were welcoming, and not in any way intrusive. The house is spotlessly clean and the best equipped I hRead moreave ever stayed in if you want to do your own cooking, and is kitted out with quality stuff that you would choose to have in your kitchen. Cling film/foil/baking paper/dishwashing tablets etc are all provided, plus a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of their lovely home made apple juice. The kitchen and downstairs living areas lead seamlessly into each other and onto the decking with very comfortable outside seating. The beds were very comfy with cotton bedding and plenty of towels. Very quiet location, but within 5mins driving of a pub at Bilsington which is highly recommended though we didn't try it. I can't recommend this house enough, and can't think of anything to improve it which has never happened before! Hide

Amazing cottage in great location. The gardens are wonderful and it was very generous of our hosts to allow us to wander round them whenever we wanted. The sunsets were beautiful behind the pond area. Loved all the birdsong. Would come again to see more of the area. Hosts were very welcoming and lovely to chat to. Well recommended.

A lovely place to stay in a great location for exploring Kent and East Sussex. Made to feel very welcome by our hosts and loved being able to explore the hosts garden and use their tennis court. Very clean and well appointed property. Had everything we needed for a holiday with a young family.
