Embrace nature in this gorgeous holiday home nestled in the Kent countryside. The property sleeps six guests and is perfect for friends and family looking to switch off and recharge. The cottage looks out across Romney Marsh: 100 square miles of flat marshland that’s just begging to be explored on foot or by bike. Set off along one of the many tracks or trails from the property to discover a unique and largely unspoilt landscape, teeming with rare plants and wildlife. Due to its sparse population, the area is also fantastic for star gazing. If it’s fresh, sea air you’re after, then head southeast to explore one of the many beaches dotted along this stretch of coastline. Dungeness (15 miles) offers a wild and remote shingle beach and stunning sunsets, whereas Hythe Beach (9 miles) has a more traditional feel, with a long promenade and stalls selling ice creams and fish and chips. A great way to explore the area is aboard the steam locomotives of the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, which journey back and forth along the coast.

This magnificent barn conversion has been lovingly renovated and really does have the wow factor. A spectacular open-plan living area is at the heart of the home, with striking exposed woodwork, vibrant soft furnishings, and a collection of fabulous artwork and accessories, all carefully chosen to reflect the surrounding landscape. This sociable space is perfect for spending quality time with loved ones, whether that’s cooking together in the stylish kitchen, sharing delicious local produce at the wooden dining table, or snuggling up on the Italian leather sofa to watch a film on SkyTV. A sleek shower room completes the ground floor. Stairs lead to the first floor, where you’ll find three inviting bedrooms. The first is a king-size with an en-suite shower room, and there is also a double bedroom and a twin.

To the front of the property, there is an exquisite, screened Mediterranean garden with outdoor furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. To the rear of the cottage, you’ll find an alternative area for outdoor entertaining, with a choice of seating, including sun loungers, and tables for enjoying mealtimes in the sunshine. A boardwalk leads away from here, offering a quiet place for reflection and wildlife watching, and there is also a fenced pond within the grounds (children should be supervised at all times). Guests are welcome to use the owner’s tennis court by prior arrangement and explore their colourful garden, which is open to the public twice a year as part of the National Garden Scheme.

Swallows Return was a fabulous place to stay for a week in the beautiful Kent countryside. The owners are wonderful hosts , who have created a wildlife haven , just 15 minutes from the coast. We had the most relaxing week in this wonderful, comfortable and well positioned property. The gardens are truly magical , a different view from each turn. Had a lovely week at Swallows Return. The barn is in a peaceful location & we were able to relax & enjoy the peace & quiet of the Kent countryside. Ashford was less than 15 minutes drive & has everything you need including supermarket & gym (essential for me)! The owners were wonderful hosts & went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortaRead moreble. They welcomed us to share the 2 acres of beautiful garden so that we could walk our dog. The garden is full of fruit trees so we easily managed our 5-a-day. Scrumping was actively encouraged. With the provisions provided on our arrival the owners left some homemade apple juice & upon leaving presented us with some Victoria plum jam. On our star rating wed rate the accommodation & hosts with their hospitality 5 out of 5 Hide

What a beautiful place to stay. We felt at home straight away. You have everything we need.
