Property code: OC-RH1137

Ideal for inter-generational family stays or a getaway with friends, this single-storey conversion is filled with character and well-placed for exploring the East Sussex countryside and coastline. Rye is only 7 miles away, with its harbour, many antique shops, cafes and restaurants; and the golden 7-mile-long beach at Camber is a 12-mile journey east. Closer to home, you have attractions such as the Brede Steam Giants Museum (1 mile) and the Brede High Woods (2.5 miles). Hastings Castle, Country Park and Beach are just over 6 miles south, and with a railway station 1.5 miles from the property, you can discover more of the county without having to drive far.

The grand open-plan living space features a carpeted lounge area with sofas and a TV where you can put your feet up with a good film. Head into the glossy kitchen/dining section floored with ceramic tiles made cosy by underfloor heating, and dine at the oak table and chairs. A hallway from the kitchen leads to a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC. Continuing along this hallway, a slight slope takes you to the second bedroom, a king-size with a step up into the en-suite shower room and WC. Then at the far end, down three carpeted stairs, lies the final bedroom, with a king-size bed and a hexagonal frosted window separating an en-suite bathroom. Retaining its original oak beams in the living area and bedrooms, the property’s whitewashed interior is most impressive.

The outdoor space is equally splendid, with a panoramic open outlook on the neighbouring countryside. A patio, accessed directly from the French doors, is furnished with an outdoor dining table and chairs. Beside this, is the gated and gravelled parking area. And, separated by a low brick wall and up a few steps, is a huge swathe of lawn ideal for children to play. The entire area is enclosed by post and rail fencing.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 king-size, 1 twin

What a great place the Parlour is, everything you could want and very spacious with three ensuite bedrooms. Very big garden with chickens at the bottom and you can buy their eggs! Mark & Hannah are great hosts and very friendly. The Red Lion is the local pub and their Sunday roasts are very good!

Lovely location with south facing garden to enjoy afternoon and evening sun on the patio. Great for 3 generation family holiday as all bedrooms had en-suite bathroom, so all had own space. Comfortable base for lots of days out.

Well a bit of a disaster on the first day as the boiler had broken down before our arrival. However the plumber was there working on the boiler with Mark the owner when we arrived, diagnosed and part ordered. Over the next two days Mark popped around to make sure we were alright and supplied two electric heaters as well as offering the use of a shoRead morewer in the adjoining property. You can't ask for more than that and shows what a good host he was. The house is well laid out with three double bedrooms and the beds were so comfy. Loved the shower in our room. The dining room table accommodated the five of us easily and then we lounged out on the settees. Outside there is a table and chairs for Al fresco dining too bitter to sit out there at the beginning of the week, but did sit there towards the end as the weather warmed up. Nicely positioned for touring the area. Thank you Mark and Hannah for being great hosts. Hide

The Parlour is set in a lovely location in beautifully kept grounds. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and catered for all our needs, it is very warm and cosy. The local Pub which is so close serves an excellent meal in a very friendly atmosphere.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Parlour. It is a lovely, spacious cottage in a beautiful location. The garden was very pretty and our grandchildren loved the large lawn which provided a perfect space for them. It was high up with lovely views from the access road. We would certainly come again.
