A quirky yet traditional holiday home with luxurious features like the corner bath and BBQ, this barn conversion is perfect for a Kent countryside getaway where relaxation is top of the menu. Located on the outskirts of the market town of Cranbrook, on the grounds of the owners' historic house with a farm shop and coffee house on your doorstep, you can relax amidst the surrounding nature with rural walks and pretty views. Make sure you visit the beautiful National Trust properties of Sissinghurst Castle Gardens (3 miles), where you can climb the tower for excellent countryside views, and 14th-century Scotney Castle (8.5 miles), which has a moat. Lovely day trips include Tunbridge Wells (14 miles) for shopping on collonaded The Pantiles and learning at the museum and historic well; or Camber Sands beach where there are watersports. Closer to home, enjoy Cranbrook’s picturesque architecture, local museum and atmospheric pubs.

Access this atmospheric barn via steps to immediately be impressed by the open-plan living space, which almost fills the ground floor. Original beams, stone walls, oak floors (with underfloor heating) and tall glass doors to the garden make this space unique. The sitting area has rustic, chesterfield-style seating and a cosy wood burner, with a TV/DVD and a music centre for entertainment. There’s also an elaborate dining table and chairs set for six. The kitchen area, which feels separate, has traditional light wood units. Pass through the hall (with storage space) to the bathroom, which feels luxurious thanks to beams, wall tiles and the soak-worthy corner bath with a shower attachment. Climb the feature staircase to a balustraded walkway on the first floor, leading to the two bedrooms. Here, find a twin (beds can rearrange as one super-king-size bed on request) with an en-suite shower room featuring subtle seaside-themed accessories, and a super-king-size (zip-and-link beds can rearrange as twin beds on request), also boasting an en-suite shower room.

Make more memories in the enclosed, paved courtyard to the rear of the property, accessed via the glass doors from the sitting area. It’s a pleasant space with flower pots and borders, garden furniture and a BBQ.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 twin, 1 super-king-size (both bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that can rearrange as either twin beds or 1 super-king-size bed - please advise at time of booking if preferred setup is different to those listed)

Quite comfortable but the barn was rather tired and in need of a spring clean - lots of cobwebs and dirty windows. Garden could have been tidied up! Response from holidaycottages.co.uk - thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we have passed your comments to the owner. The property was clean on last inspection.

A beautiful converted barn which was the perfect location for sightseeing in the area. Very nice host who lives in the same courtyard. Good facilities and utensils for those who want to cook and ideal for those who want both upstairs en suite & convenience of a downstairs bathroom/ loo We would definitely consider going back.

Great location for visiting the amazing gardens of the area. Attractive barn conversion, but a bit noisy out the back early in the morning as the businesses in the industrial units open up

Great converted barn on a pretty location. Well equipped and plenty of bathrooms. Separate from the owners house with separate garden and driveway for 1 car. Friendly owners who are happy to help out and make your holiday even more enjoyable. Good privacy for the apartment though.
