Stay in Sandwich 5 metres from the riverside, in a cottage that’s steeped in thousands of years of history; catering to adults, the property offers the optional use of a second bedroom for a fee. This area is a golfer's paradise; there are eight courses within a 10-mile radius including the famous Royal St. Georges, and you’re close to the coast (just over 2 miles on foot), for refreshing walks on the beach and sailing adventures. Immerse in culture, and a spot of retail therapy in Canterbury 10 miles away and try some water sports at Whitemills Wake and Aqua Park (1 mile). Or stay close to home — within half a mile you have a museum, a medieval centre and many tempting eateries.

The entrance hall has a padded bench and two steps up to the exquisite lounge. Here, you’ll find colourful eastern rugs, a hanging tapestry, paintings, antique pieces of furniture, a coal-effect electric fire and ancient beams. A contemporary kitchen has a round bistro table and two chairs for leisurely dining. Upstairs, the landing leads to a carpeted super-king-size bedroom; an elegant space with an antique monks bench at the foot of the bed, a dressing table with a mirror over and a padded stool, complimentary cotton robes and slippers for use during your stay, and antique Italianate embossed plaster borders on the walls. Found off the bedroom, the en-suite shower room has a glistening porcelain tiled floor.

Relax after a day’s sightseeing, within the privacy of your own walled garden with a table and chairs, a pond with a water feature, planted raised borders and a fig tree. At the far end, you’ll find your own stone and flint-built Custom House, complete with mountain bikes at your disposal.

The Short House has character in abundance, due to its history, with all the features of a modern property to make a very comfortable and memorable holiday visit. Secure parking much appreciated as was the welcome pack. Pleasure to meet the host who was particularly friendly without disturbing our privacy during the stay.

A wonderful opportunity to stay in a house so old and part of history. Very comfy bed, lovely shower, totally unique and beautiful garden. We found Sandwich was delightful, it was quiet yet so many cafes and pubs open that we ran out of days to try them all. Special mention to the No name French Bistro, fabulous cheese and coffee. The town wall walRead morek was so lovely we did in several days and there were lots of other walks provided at the house to try, which was very handy. Hide

The property was well situated in the Old Town of sandwich, 10 minute walk to town center. The property was very quaint in keeping with the location. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the property was well maintained. We stayed for two weeks and found a lot of interesting places to visit all within an hours drive.
