Stay in a former granary, sensitively converted to create a four-bedroom home from home in the riverside village of Brede. Local attractions include Brede Steam Giants Museum (1 mile) and the High Woods (2.5 miles). Hastings Castle, Country Park and Beach are 6.5 miles south, with Camber Castle, Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and Winchelsea Beach lying a little over 8 miles east. A network of trails can be found close to the property, as can a range of country pubs and a small batch craft beer microbrewery, with indoor and outdoor seating (1.5 miles).

An open-plan living space features far-reaching views, a wood burner, and a log store housed in the brick-built fireplace. Heavy oak pillars provide a reminder of the building’s heritage, interspersing cosy sofas and a long eight-seater dining table. A brick archway leads to the bright kitchen and a doorway opens into the ground-floor bedroom, a twin, with an en-suite shower room and WC. Stairs from the lounge area take you to the first floor, where there’s a second twin bedroom, a king-size with an en-suite shower room and WC, a single bedroom, and a family bathroom. Additional wardrobe space is available on the landing.

Accessed from French doors in the living space, a patio at the front of the property spills onto an area of lawn with mature trees. Enclosed with rustic wooden posts and rail fencing, the garden has a brick-built BBQ, and a dining table and chairs for everyone to gather over an al fresco meal. A 4-acre mown paddock beyond can be accessed through your own gate.

Our stay at The Old Granary could not have been better. We loved its location in Brede with superb countryside views. The house was clean and equipped to a very high standard. Gordon's chickens were a constant delight. We made sure to bring his Happy Hens eggs home to enjoy. The Red Lion in Brede deserves a mention. We had a warm welcome, good foodRead more and their Brede Bread was delicious. We can highly recommend The Old Granary for a memorable holiday. Definitely hoping to return! Hide

Its a lovely, homely property in a stunning quiet location with amazing views. Its a short distance from Hastings, Battle and Rye and the coast, where theres so much to see and do but also not too far from National Trust properties, gardens, a castle, a steam train and museums! The perfect holiday!
