This unusual property dates back to circa 1400 with later additions made during the 18th century. The surrounding houses were once taverns for incoming mariners; now, they are exquisite character homes. The structure of the cottage is heavily beamed, beautifully renovated, cosy and full of character. The sitting room has a wonderful wooden floor, cushy seating and a large open fire. Warm up by the fire with a cuppa and your favourite book or enjoy a romantic movie night in this traditionally furnished room. A tiny wooden door from the living room leads to the ground-floor shower room. When it’s time to eat, you can prepare a delicious meal in the lovely kitchen before sitting down to eat at the compact fold-down table. Cottage-style stairs from the ground floor lead to the first-floor double bedroom with traditional beams and a Lloyd Lloom chair. Another set of cottage-style stairs leads to the second-floor bedroom with a 4’ bed, traditional beams and a dormer window with pretty views.
While there is outside space at this property, the delights of wonderful Rye are on your doorstep and the River Rother and River Brede both run close by, perfect for morning waterside walks.
