The pretty mews cottage boasts a central location in Royal Tunbridge Wells, with a fantastic array of shops and eateries on its doorstep. The property sleeps four guests and makes an excellent base for couples and small families. Head into the town centre (0.5 miles) to explore the independent boutiques and galleries at the iconic colonnaded Pantiles and dine in one of the many vibrant cafes or cute tearooms. The town also boasts an excellent range of fine-dining restaurants. To appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscape, why not step back in time with a ride on the Spa Valley Railway? Hop aboard the steam train in the town centre, and journey through the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to nearby Eridge, stopping off to potter around the cute Kent villages on the way. The area is known for its fairy-tale castles, and Scotney Castle (8.5 miles) is no exception. The 14th-century moated castle sits amongst a stunning 770-acre wooded estate and is a gorgeous setting for a picnic or peaceful walk amongst the trees.

The charming red-brick former stable is bursting with character and charm. Neutral paintwork creates a calm and relaxed atmosphere, while antique-style furniture adds a touch of grandeur. The ground floor has an open-plan layout, with a spacious lounge/diner providing the perfect place for socialising with friends and family. Gather around the dining table for evenings of great food and laughter, followed by a movie night on the comfortable seating around the TV/DVD. There is also a stylish writing desk, should you need to catch up on a little work whilst away. An archway leads from here to a sleek kitchen, with everything you need to whip up a tasty meal. A striking spiral staircase leads to the first floor, where you’ll find the two bedrooms. The first is a cosy double, and the second is an inviting twin. The twin bedroom has a sloping ceiling, so you may experience restricted head height in some areas. A shower room completes the accommodation.

There is no private outdoor space at this property. However, you are welcome to explore the 4 acres of shared grounds surrounding the cottage. Guests also benefit from a reduced rate to use the gym and swimming pool at a nearby spa hotel.

Tv has very poor reception from satellite. Worked well from laptop using hdmi cable. Shortage of accessible 3-pin sockets. None in twin bedroom. No spare ones in kitchen. Lounge had two 4-way extension leads. Frying pan needs replacing. Very dim lighting in lounge. When we had an Internet problem, the key holder came out within an hour and fixed thRead moree problem. Very happy with the rental and am returning for two weeks in May. However, a couple of areas for improvement:- a) The left hand curtain and curtain rail in the sitting room were broken and need to be mended. b) Freezer needs a serious defrosting. c) There is no plug socket in the twin bedroom. No way to recharge your phone or use the hair dryer. Read moreNeeds an extension cable. d) Landline telephone was not working. e) No dust pan and brush / or umbrella f) No smoke detector installed anywhere. I'm sure you need one by law g) Could subscribe to Netflix. Who uses DVDs anymore? Apart from these matters, I met the host, Gill and cleaner Jane who were both highly efficient and charming. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay in Tunbridge Wells. Your pre-arrival service and support was excellent, and the cottage was in very good shape when we arrived. When we had a washing machine problem the owner helped us out very promptly. Our only real concern over comfort was with the double bed in the main bedroom which was too soft for we twoRead more (normal-sized) adults. We found 1 Stable Mews Cottage a delightful holiday home in an excellent location. One comment though is that the information folder need to be looked at & updated as it gave conflicting & out of date information. There were differing times of when we had to vacate the house & there were 2 different accounts of what to do with the recycling;ing.
