This two-bed, barn-style property makes a fabulous holiday base for a small family or two couples. It’s next to a mirror image property in the grounds of the owners’ house. They have a well-stocked fishing lake you can try by arrangement. Located within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are stacks of walks for you to go on too. If you fancy a trip out, explore the local gardens at Hole Park (3 miles) and Sissinghurst Castle (8.5 miles) with its garden rooms, or the magnificent, moated castle at Bodiam 6 miles away. Stock up on fresh supplies at the popular weekly farmers' market in Rolvenden village just 1.5 miles from your home from home. Historic Rye is only 10 miles away near the coast, while it’s 5 miles to attractive Tenterden which is also worth a visit with great shops and historic buildings.

This holiday retreat is all on one level but with quirky steps throughout. Sink back into the sofa in the open-plan lounge and enjoy the wood burner in cooler months or the light evenings during summer. This combined living/kitchen/dining room is oak-floored throughout, with cottage-style latched doors, lots of natural light and a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and frame. There’s a two-seater dining table and a comprehensive modern kitchen area that also boasts a breakfast bar with four high stools. The two delightful bedrooms are generous and also have the same interesting, vaulted ceilings, oak floors and calming atmosphere. They share a bathroom with contemporary fixtures including a free-standing bath and delightful, walk-in, tiled shower.

Guests have the use of their own private, fenced garden with a furnished terrace and lawn overlooking a stocked fishing lake and a shared BBQ.

We had a lovely stay at Bluebell Byre with our 2 sons. In Belgium, having a public footpath in your backyard doesn't exist, so we love it here because it means the landscape is absolutely fine to see! Also the birds welcomed us, and on a sunny day (we had some, not many) it was very relaxing to have breakfast with this view. It was nice to have infRead moreormation and maps in the cottage, and in the guestbook we could read good recommendations. There's enough space and equipment (some small pans, but with some creativity that works as good as home), a bit too much pillows, actually that only adds to the authenticity of the Byre. This was what we expected, so the information on the website means you get what you see. It was also easy to communicate with the owners, very helpfull they live nextdoor. And so much to visit, Rye, Sissinghurst, Bodiam, Tenterden, Batemans... Lovely area! Hide

Had a wonderful stay at Bluebell hosted by Heather and James. We have holidayed at this location on many occasions over the years and were a little apprehensive at the change of ownership. We shouldn't have been, as we where made very welcome on our arrival (the complimentary goodies were fantastic) and the cottage accomodation (Cable TV, excellenRead moret WiFi an added bonus) was lovely and comfortable. The lake is now far more accessible due to extensive cutting/clearing and we will be looking to land some biggies next year. Enjoyed the log fire on a couple of nights which just adds to the charm of the location. Fantastic break which we very much enjoyed, and we will be returning in 2024. Hide

Bluebell Byre is in lovely grounds with a nice pond, also nice walks from the door. Wassall Lane was a delightful walk too. It was a lovely 4 night break but we did find the 2 steps in and several inside a bit of a trial for my husband. Heather was very helpful and we enjoyed everything else in the cottage, our small dog loved the garden, it is rRead moreeally secure too. We visited several lovely gardens, all not too far away. All good but a few cobwebs, quite common with the style and age of the house so was not much of an issue for us but it may be for others
