Stylishly decorated throughout, this imposing Georgian holiday home displays a perfect blend of original charm and contemporary convenience, all nestled in the heart of Rye's charming cobbled streets.

This stunning Georgian townhouse is situated right in the centre of the historic town of Rye, in East Sussex. Rye is a wonderful place for a break away from daily life, with its quiet, cobbled streets, array of interesting independent shops, bijou independent cinema and a range of places to eat to suit all tastes. Within a five minute drive, or a 15 minute bicycle ride, is the neighbouring village of Rye Harbour, with its coastal RSPB nature reserve, this makes a lovely place for a walk along the beach before retiring to the village’s popular gastropub.

Walking through the front door of this property takes you from Rye’s cobbled streets and into the welcoming hallway. Straight in front of you, you will find the magnificent lounge with its stunning views across the marshes and beyond. The sofas and chairs here make for a comfortable, relaxing space in which to watch the TV and DVD player. In the corner of the room is a small sunroom. The spacious dining room has a large table seating eight, feature fireplace and more of those wonderful views. The kitchen is a cook’s paradise. There is an Aga in use in the winter months, as well as a large Range cooker, plus a microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. A door leads out onto the flagstone terrace which has an outside dining area and views all the way across to Dover’s white cliffs. Taking the stairs to the first floor, you will pass a seating area with wide range of books. The master bedroom suite is on this floor, with its own hall off from which separate doors lead to the bathroom with shower over bath and bedroom with its double bed. The second bedroom has a double bed and a window seat to enjoy the views. The en-suite to this room has a shower over bath. The third bedroom is perfect for children with its two single beds and en-suite shower room. Another set of stairs, takes you to the second floor and the fourth bedroom, with double bed and en-suite shower.

To the rear of the property, is a flagstone terrace with views across to the marshes and the sea. The outdoor dining table seats eight and there is also a BBQ. Parking is available in local car parks nearby.

Situated on the banks on the River Rother, the attractive market town of Rye is vibrant and diverse, making it a fantastic base to explore the East Sussex coast. Historical buildings pave its ancient cobbled streets where you will find hidden courtyards and secret alleyways hosting a fantastic array of shops, cafes, inns and restaurants to browse. Further down the river lies the pretty fishing village of Rye Harbour (2.5 miles) which has a busy yachting scene and is home to many protected species of wildlife and birds. Camber Sands (4.5 miles) is a popular seaside destination due to its beautiful sandy beach that runs for over 2 miles. Most other beaches along the East Sussex coast are either made from pebble or shingle, making Camber Sands a great spot for a family day out.

Benson House was dirty with a strong smell of 'dog', dog hairs and other 'bits' on the carpets, crumbs on dining room table, dusty windowsills, grubby kitchen, dog hairs on lounge furniture, and 2 dirty socks in the bedrooms. The bathrooms were clean, with fresh towels, and the beds were made. There is no excuse for dirtiness, especially during theRead more Covid pandemic. We spent 3 hours cleaning. This is such a shame as the house is otherwise very nice and in a great location. Hide

Fantastic spacious and stylish house in centre of Rye. Could do with a good clean and some information on bin days and recycling but don't let that put you off. Parking in Cattle Market was straight forward for six of the seven nights we stayed but avoid train station before market day, their all day ticket runs out 4.00am the following day (there Read moreare better options nearby). The house is a great option for families with teens who have their own space and can come and go into town as they please Hide

The photographs show a beautiful house, which it is, but there are major problems with maintenance and cleanliness which outweighed the joy of staying there.

Beautiful property in great situation. Any drawbacks in terms of cleanliness outweighed by the overall character and location of the property in a central site in the Citadel. Would return.

Great spacious house in a great location. Easy to walk to all amenities. Parking better than expected. House set up is better for couples than families due to so many double beds.

Wonderful location, property a little tired but homely. We found all the beds very comfortable and all bedrooms very good size and pleasant aspects with own en-suites - great for nice lies in once you have got used to the noise if seagulls! Kitchen very well stocked and nice dining room for group meals.

Beautiful house, spacious and comfortable - love the en-suites, they really make a difference. The house is central, and yet has wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. Definitely recommended, we will be back next year, and thank you so much for the goodies - a lovely welcome.

Our second visit which is a recommendation in itself! Stayed for the weekend with my 7 sisters, and had an absolutely wonderful time. The property is perfect for sitting together to eat, and relaxing in the living room for parlour games, which was great fun. So close to the shops too - what else could you ask for. Thank you.
