Head to glorious Goodwood (10 miles) for a day at the races or visit pretty Chichester (9 miles) with its lovely cathedral and wealth of shops and restaurants. Fishbourne (11 miles), the largest Roman palace in Britain, is also well worth a visit to see its stunning, preserved mosaics.
