Lovingly refurbished, this picturesque cottage boasts light and airy accommodation mixed with plenty of traditional charm. Just a short walk from a wonderful village pub and other amenities makes this a great base.

This quaint country cottage is conveniently located on the A28 in the East Sussex village of Brede, with its cosy pub which produces and sells its own fresh bread every day, as well as offering take away fish and chips once a week alongside their usual bar menu. Also worth a visit are the fascinating and beautifully restored steam water pumps, The Giants of Brede. Further afield, the towns of Hastings and Rye are both within a 20 minute drive and have much to offer visitors, from the host of quirky independent shops in Rye to the beachfront and fresh fish stalls in Hastings. The location really does offer something for everybody.

As soon as you arrive at this picket-fenced cottage you will feel as if you have arrived in the heart of the countryside. As you enter this cosy cottage the lounge can be found to the right of the front door. This room is comfortably furnished with sofa and chairs collected around the inglenook fireplace with open-fire, as well as the TV and DVD for quiet nights in. Continue to the kitchen, where the low beam ceiling means it has retained much of its original charm whilst offering everything the cook needs, including oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The dining table is here too with comfortable seating for four. The backdoor opens out from the kitchen onto an enclosed courtyard. The main bathroom is located on the ground floor, with hand-held shower over bath, and you can also find a small utility room where the washing machine and tumble dryer are kept. Stairs lead to the first floor where both bedrooms are located, with their chic white floor boards and cosy rugs. Both bedrooms have double beds and plenty of space to hang clothes.

Outside there is a typical cottage-style courtyard garden, which has a picnic table for al fresco meals and a BBQ for guests’ use. The back gate gives access to the village and there is roadside parking across the road from the cottage.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Weve enjoyed some relaxing at Clare Cottage, mostly walking on Winchelsea beach with our miniature Schnauzer Freda, or cozied up in the lounge sleeping and eating! Felt very homely and the archetypal cottage with roses and lavender scenting the front door.

What a great week we have had in East Sussex. Have been to many places such as Rye, Hastings, Brighton and Battle and enjoyed them all. The cottage is everything a cottage should be. Its beautifully decorated and furnished, very comfy beds and the kitchen is very well equipped.

We had a lovely time in Brede thank-you. Very clean and tidy, and it had been thoughtfully decorated for Christmas, which we appreciated. The gifts left for us were thoughtful.
