This cosy cottage is ideally suited for walkers and couples wanting to explore the abundance of historic towns and Sussex coastline, just a short distance away.

Conveniently located in the heart of the South Downs National Park in the pretty Sussex village of High Salvington with its local windmill and within close proximity to Arundel with its Castle, shops and pubs, and only 4 miles from the seaside town of Worthing with its attractive promenade making this the perfect place for a relaxing break. Those looking to soak up the local culture can enjoy a trip to nearby Chichester with its beautiful Cathedral, explore the Roman ruins at Fishbourne Palace, visit Petworth House, home of one of the National Trust’s finest art collections or the Goodwood Estate famed for horse racing, the annual Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival, but also home to a quintessential English stately home. Brighton is only a short drive away with its Royal Pavilion, Brighton i360 and is a shopper’s paradise offering boutique shopping combined with fantastic places to eat.

Enter this pretty cottage, located in the owner’s grounds where there is space for dropping off coats and shoes before heading into the bright and airy lounge/kitchen/diner. The cosy lounge area is the perfect place to curl up in one of the armchairs after a busy day exploring and watch a film or favourite programme on the Smart TV or relax with a good book in front of the electric wood burning effect stove. The kitchen is well-equipped with an electric oven and induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and a DAB radio, perfect for preparing romantic meals which can then be enjoyed at the dining table and chairs. The bedroom offers a twin divan beds and the property is completed with a shower room with shower and WC.

Heading outside to the patio area the garden offers spectacular countryside and sea views and the patio table and chairs are perfect for sitting out on a warm evening. There is private parking for one car and secure bike storage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Excellent accommodation with everything you need. Lovely patio area at the back of the cottage which is a suntrap with views across to the sea at Worthing. The cottage was perfectly placed with views of the sea and South Downs. A perfect location for touring Sussex. Well appointed and comfortable. Owners Chris and Ian made us feel at home and were very helpful. Made for the perfect holiday

This is a great spot for getting away from it all to relax. Adjoining the owners property, it is immaculate throughout with everything you could want. Kitchen well stocked with equipment and appliances. The welcome pack was a lovely gesture. Garden is a small patio area - a real suntrap. Adjacent to a field for dog walking and leading to some lovelRead morey areas for longer walks. The shop was closed for refurb when we got there so needed to drive to other shops but great base for exploring the area. Hide

Well equipped, lovely accommodation with views to sea. Access to South Downs literally on doorstep - House is at end of road and gate to house is right next to gate to countryside. Very friendly and helpful owners.

The property is very well presented and has all the facilities anyone would need for a a very pleasant stay in a lovely part of the country. Our hosts, Chris and Ian, were very friendly and helpful. On the slight downside space is at a premium within the property and the traffic, especially on the A27, created some difficulties with travelling arouRead morend. We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless and our dog, Archie, loved his walks so conveniently close by. There are lots of places to explore and enjoy Hide

Well presented property and very well equipped. The welcome package was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. Our hosts Chris and Ian were very welcoming. Whilst the weather was a little unkind we had a very enjoyable week.

We had just what we needed for a really enjoyable break. Beds were the most comfortable I have slept in while away from home. We had all we needed inside the property and a pleasant outside space. Best of all for us was the immediate access to the Downs for walks. For a change it took 10 minutes to drive to the sea at West Worthing or Goring where Read morethere is free parking all along the front. Owners were helpful but not intrusive. Hide

Lovely little cottage well laid out clean and tidy. Ideal for dogs to stay Lots of extras even outside tap and washing machine for dog blankets. Downs Gate is a lovely comfortable cottage in a superb location with great views of the South Downs and the coast. The garden is very peaceful and a lovely suntrap, glorious. The property was very clean, and articles in the house were of very good quality, a full range of equipment throughout the property, including washing machine, dishwasher and coffee maker. An outside patio, with seating, and a covered area for drying clothes. Located on the edge of the South Downs, access to extensive walks.
