Discover this traditional cottage in the historic smuggling village of East Dean, which is ideal for a large family or group of friends. Idyllically set in the rolling countryside of the South Downs National Park, just 1 mile from the iconic Seven Sisters Cliffs and 2 miles from the Seven Sisters Country Park, this is the place to be for superb scenery.

This 17th-century cottage is in a picturesque village location with old-style charm and plenty of history. It has been updated to provide something rather different and special. An eclectic mix of original features like exposed beam ceilings, feature fireplaces and a stained-glass window, combines with stylish, contemporary touches. You'll even find two large ships timbers as beams in the dining area. The quaint kitchen has all you need to conjure up a family meal. A pleasant garden room reached via cottage-style stairs on the second floor has comfortable cane furniture and views over the garden, where you can sit and relax, or lose yourself in a good book. From here, a set of external steps lead down to delightfully spacious and private split-level gardens which are spread out over several pretty, terraced areas, linked by stone steps.

This property is situated within the magnificent scenery of the South Downs National Park. It enjoys a fantastic location in East Dean, a beautiful village close to Beachy Head and Birling Gap Beach (both 2 miles), with its renowned smugglers' inn. The cottage used to have a network of underground tunnels which linked it to the seashore at Birling Gap, and to the historic village pub which is just across the village green. Eastbourne, with its shops, cafes, pubs and Towner Art Gallery is just over 4 miles away. The Driftwood Garden near Seaford (7 miles) is delightfully quirky with an abundance of beautiful plants and is well worth a visit.

What a wonderful find. This fantastic cottage is set right in the heart of the village. We have stayed in many cottages over the years but never have they been as well equipped with quality goods as Glebe cottage is. It truly is a home from home On suits would have been nice but would it stop us returning absolutely not.
