At a glance

  • Pretty holiday cottage set in a fantastic rural location
  • Surrounded by 30 acres of fields and close to the Royal Military Canal
  • Situated in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Property code: 54088

Situated down a quite country lane near to the village of Aldington, and on the edge of the Kent Downs between Ashford and Hythe. The property offers lovely views over the surrounding countryside.

Perfectly located to explore all of the lovely things that Kent has to offer, this charming farm cottage is in the pretty village of Aldington, just eight miles south-east of the bustling town of Ashford. Here you can visit the huge designer outlet shopping centre as well as the more traditional high street, and in the nearby city of Canterbury, you can browse a fantastic selection of independent shops as well as visiting the cathedral and timber-framed buildings along its medieval cobbled streets. The area is home to a wealth of National Trust properties including Chartwell, the former home of Winston Churchill, Knole House and Smallhythe Place, as well as the romantic castles of Leeds, Hever and Bodiam. Head to the coast where you will find glorious beaches and small fishing villages dotted along the coast as well as the larger resorts of Whitstable and Margate.

As you enter the property, you will be greeted by a small hall area, perfect to leave coats and boots. Just beyond is a cosy lounge with traditional wooden beams, comfortable sofas and wood burner, as well as a TV/DVD and family games for relaxing evenings at home. This lead into a well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen/diner with range-style electric oven and gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine as well as a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. A double bedroom, bathroom with shower over bath and WC complete the ground floor, along with a cosy snug with sofa, TV and a selection of books. Upstairs there are two further bedrooms, a double and a twin with sofa. Most of the rooms in the house have wonderful views across the surrounding countryside, dotted with livestock from neighbouring farms.

Outside there is a garden with table and chairs for al fresco dining as well as a charcoal BBQ. There is private parking for one car at the rear of the property – it isn’t advisable to park at the front of the house as cows from a neighbouring field have been known to wander in front of the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Cottage is the ideal get away from it all location, perfect base to explore the Kent and East Sussex countryside. We found the cottage to be spacious and well equipped and would have no hesitation recommending.

A beautiful and welcoming farm cottage in a quiet setting, where we felt safe. We enjoyed waking to the mooing of cows and breakfasting in the comfortable covered BBQ area, whatever the weather. The owners live next door and are friendly, helpful hosts. Being able to park near the front door for unloading or loading the car was a definite plus.

We had a lovely stay here , very friendly and accommodating hosts- would recommend for a nice rural getaway (and not far from the coast either) . Plus if you have young kids ( specifically girls) there are kids toys there too.

Amazing location, so rural. Fantastic house and couldn't ask for a better holiday home. Great hosts - there if you need them but don't intrude on your stay.

Beautiful, traditional, English cottage. Spacious and well equipped. Peaceful surroundings, just a little further away from local amenities than hoped. Really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again for sure.
