This rural property is located in the village of Burwash, and is perfect for exploring the countryside around East Sussex, and venturing further afield to the south coast. A short walk away is Batemans, the former residence of Rudyard Kipling which is now owned by The National Trust. This Jacobean house is a lovely place to visit, whether you are interested in history, literature, horticulture or wildlife. The village of Burwash itself has two pubs, a butchers, a village shop and a popular tearoom. The towns of Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea and Royal Tunbridge Wells are each within a 30 minute drive of the property.
A long drive leads to this converted coach house. On entering the house, you will find yourself in the cosy kitchen, which has an Aga-style oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a seating area in the kitchen by the fire. Steps from here lead to the enclosed garden and on the other side is the dining room with its impressive table seating 16 guests. The lounge is lovely and light and has three large sofas with seating for 12, and additional stools, TV and DVD player and a woodburner. Three of the house’s bedrooms are located along the corridor from the lounge, each of which have patio doors allowing access to the garden. One of the rooms has a king-size bed and en-suite shower room. The other two both have double beds and share the main bathroom, which has a gorgeous roll-top bath. Stairs lead to further bedrooms on the first floor, both of which have three single beds and share a bathroom with sumptuous roll-top bath and separate shower. In a separate hayloft building there is more accommodation, with its own open-plan living area, including a small kitchen with fridge, hob and microwave. There is also a double bedroom and bathroom, and there is an additional sleeping space available on the sofa bed in the living area. Below this accommodation is a games room in an open bay garage with pool table, dartboard and table football.
Outside there is an enclosed garden with rustic-style al fresco dining area and an outdoor swimming pool, open May-end of September, which is shared with the main house on a rota. There is also a hot tub available for private hire, which must be booked in advance direct with the owner. Children will enjoy the play area with swings, monkey bars, trampoline and football goals. There is parking available for six cars.
