This cosy former fisherman’s cottage, close to the beach, has charm and character, offering stylish accommodation from which to enjoy a seaside holiday.

Located at the heart of Hastings’ popular Old Town, you have everything you need here to enjoy a classic British seaside holiday with a difference. The resort’s beach and promenade can be found just across the road from the property, while you can spend hours at George Street’s antique shops, cafes and restaurants, situated just around the corner. Five minutes away you can discover Hastings’ iconic fishing sheds and the Jerwood Gallery, while just a few more minutes’ walk will take you to the hill railway, with the Hastings Country Park lying in wait at the summit. Learn about the town’s smuggling past at Smugglers’ Adventure, an educational family attraction.

Upon entering the property, you will come across the charming kitchen, which also has a dining area. This is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up a simple meal and enjoy your stay here, including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge with ice compartment and a washing machine. There is also a small storage area, with a peg rail and bench, ideal for storing your coats, bags and shoes. Follow the original narrow stone stairs down to the former cellar, which has been converted into a snug perfect for a cosy night in, kitted out with a Smart TV/DVD, a selection of films and shelves lined with books. The snug also has a futon day bed which can sleep an additional guest if required. Back up to the kitchen/diner, a panelled turned wooden stairwell leads upstairs and into the lounge where there is a comfortable sofa and woodburner, a place to relax after a day on the beach. Open stairs take you up another floor from the lounge, where both the bedroom and shower room can be found. The bedroom is cosy and inviting, and features a double bed as well as sea views, while the shower room contains a walk-in shower and WC.

A parking permit can be bought from the Tourist Information Centre (a few minutes' walk away) for £30 per week, allowing use of all three main car parks on the seafront; however, you can unload luggage from your car directly outside the property. Application for a weekly ticket can be done in advance on line, and then the ticket collected in person from the Tourist Information Centre. Details via Hastings Borough Council website.

We had a lovely time! The house is incredibly cute and well-kept, and everything was provided for a comfortable stay. Our hosts were so helpful and responsive on the rare occasions when we needed assistance. The wood-burning stove made for delightfully cosy evenings in, and the bottle of prosecco and the treats that were thoughtfully left for us weRead morere a very nice touch. The house is conveniently located for the seafront and for George Street, which had enough eateries to keep us going all week. Hide

The welcome arrival pack was excellent thank you. The location in the Old Town was perfect. For those less mobile, the stairs could be a problem. The owners take pride in their cottage, and it shows.

The amount of stairs in the property would be a challenge to the elderly & infirm.

Thank you for letting us stay in your amazing cottage. We stay away regularly and One West Street is easily one of the best we have stayed in. Great location and a wonderful base to get to know Hastings from. We will be telling all of our friends so expect more bookings from Milton Keynes coming your way. Thanks for everything.
