This beautifully converted barn has been transformed into a light and airy cottage offering a tranquil getaway in idyllic rural surroundings for both couples and families.

Sitting at the foot of the South Downs National Park, this beautifully converted barn has been transformed into a contemporary, light and airy cottage. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, it provides the perfect country getaway for a small family or group of friends in search of some peace and tranquillity. And as it’s located in the grounds of a garden centre that has a wonderful farm shop, finding quality ingredients for your chef-inspired dinners is never an issue.

Start your day in the cottage’s light and spacious open-plan living room/kitchen/diner space, which boasts an impressive vaulted ceiling and oak beam features. There you’ll find a complimentary breakfast hamper containing a fine range of local produce. Whip up breakfast in the kitchen area and eat all together at the dining table, which boasts lovely views over the garden. After a day exploring the incredible vistas of the South Downs National Park, stop off at the garden centre’s farm shop to pick up some delicious treats for dinner. After dinner, step through the French doors into the private garden/patio and take a seat by the fire pit area. Alternatively, sink into a sofa in the living area and warm your toes by the wood burner. At the end of the day, there are two lovely bedrooms to choose from.

Treat yourself to a stroll at Devil’s Dyke (2.5 miles). At almost 1 mil -long, this is the longest, deepest and widest ‘dry valley’ in the UK, and local legend has it that the devil dug the chasm. Alternatively, head into Brighton, where you can wander around the ultra-cool Lanes district (7.5 miles) – an artsy area that’s jam-packed with independent cafes, galleries and vintage stores housed in pretty 16th-century buildings.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A well situated cottage with pleasant owners. Farm shop is useful. Generally comfortable and reasonably well equipped. Outside seating only gets morning sun.

Lovely barn building with enclosed garden. Handy for the farm shop. Small dog could get through the gate although the garden is enclosed. Very comfy and quiet, but can't actually walk anywhere unless you go out of the gate onto a busy main road.

The cottage did not disappoint with regards to comfort and cleanliness, especially considering pets are allowed in the property. Upon arrival there was a welcome basket of supplies, which was a lovely touch. We had to contact the owners during the stay and we found them to be very helpful and polite. Whilst not a problem as such, we found the noiseRead more from the nearby main road to be noticeable. This is the only consideration I would pass on to future potential guests Hide

Comfortable barn and well placed for Brighton. Welcome pack was well received and the farm shop and cafe next door were excellent. After plugging a corner gap in the fence, the garden was safe to let our small dog off the lead. The main con was there were no walks directly from the property to take the dog on.

Lovely place to stay - great countryside feel but only a few miles from Brighton as well. It was really useful having the very well-stocked farm shop and cafe next door.

The barn was in immaculate condition and cleanliness and the breakfast hamper a kind and useful thought. It was comfortable and cosy, quiet and blessed with some unusual bird species for those interested.

The cottage is lovely set at the back of the garden centre. Two good sized bedrooms and one bathroom. The indoor seating area is very comfortable and the outside garden area is secure if you have a dog. Being near the garden centre and farm shop was no problem as you have your own drive and it is quite separate. The garden centre and farm shop are Read moreboth well stocked. There is no walking directly from the cottage as the garden center exit is onto a fast main road, there is however a bus stop. Hide

Good location for walks around Devils Dyke. Well stocked farm shop. Very quiet location. Found the barrier to gain access after the garden centre was closed a bit of a challenge as you hold up traffic in both directions waiting for the gate to open.

It is difficult to fault the Barn, it is a very comfortable, quiet and attractive place to stay, not far from Brighton and well situated for major routes. It is the best cottage we have ever stayed in - top marks.
