Property code: EHC45

200-year old traditional fishermen’s cottage located just 200 yards from the seafront in the Meads Village area of Eastbourne, within walking distance of South Downs National Park.

You can't get much more romantic than a 200-year-old fisherman's cottage made for two, just yards from the sea. Situated between the seaside town of Eastbourne with its sights and amusements, and the sweeping hills of the South Downs National Park, it's ideal for an active and relaxing retreat, and could make the perfect honeymoon destination (whether you just got married or not).

Enter through the pretty cottage garden into a gorgeously decorated sitting room. With a comfy sofa (which pulls out into a bed if you need extra room), TV, warming gas fire, and period features, it's a lovely place to relax in the evening. Next door is a sweet cottage kitchen, set up with all the equipment you need to make your own romantic meals for two during your stay. Cottage-style stairs lead up to a charming king-size room and neighbouring spacious bathroom, with both a bath and a shower. Light and crisp decor with dashes of colour throughout make this cottage feel airy and romantic, and — better yet — outside is an enclosed courtyard garden with a table for two set up for taking in the fresh sea air.

The Meads Village area of Eastbourne, where this fisherman's cottage is situated, offers the best of all worlds. Just 200 yards from the seafront in one direction, and the same distance to the beginning of the South Downs National Park in the other, this is the perfect destination for those who like to walk, hike or cycle. Or you can simply stroll the beach towards Eastbourne's beautiful Victorian pier, 1.5 miles along the shore, where you'll find amusements, shops and cafes.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A charming little cottage which has been decorated and furnished very tastefully. The location is fantastic with the South Downs, seafront and town centre within walking distance. Local shops are just up the street. The Pilot and the Ship are great pubs too. I would definitely recommend South Downs Cottage.

We have stayed here a few times. but this year on arrival there were no parking permits ( usually left out for us) we spent a fair bit of time looking for them or any info on whether the rules had changed.Eventually I got thru to speak to a very helpful and apologetic chap and thankfully he had the permits with us soon. It was a very stressful starRead moret to our holiday tho worrying if we might get a ticket. The freezer section in the fridge was frozen up we had to chip away ice to close door. Hide

The location of the cottage is great, on a quiet street with the Pilot Inn just on the corner, which serves excellent food. The cottage itself is very clean with a very comfortable bed, we slept like logs. A short walk and you have cafes, cake shop and a small Tesco. There is a park less than a five minute walk if you have a dog with you. Handy forRead more Eastbourne which you could walk to. The area is full of history which is good to research before you go. Also watch the garden slabs some have sunk and stick up easy for you to trip. Cottage in a lovely area, plenty of parks and open spaces to stroll around plus the sea front. A small well presented cottage with a paved area out the back. Clean and pleasingly decorated. A pub next to the cottage means there was a cooking smell and at times noisy customers. However cottage situated in The Meads a very pleasant area of Eastbourne and not too far to walk into the main town if you are fit.
