Built in 1820, this elegant Grade II listed Georgian property is the perfect place for the whole family to get together and enjoy all that the Sussex coast has to offer.

If you're looking for an impressive property for a group holiday in Sussex, this Grade II listed Georgian property won't disappoint. Located in Icklesham within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just 3.5 miles from the shingle beach at Winchelsea, this charming accommodation is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Once a vicarage, it's spread over three floors and has room for up to 12 people and one dog – ideal for a big family gathering, a school reunion or a holiday among friends.

This brick house has a beautiful brick facade with climbing plants and attractive white casing around the front door. Inside, your party can spread out over six bedrooms, a games room, a huge kitchen complete with a gas Aga and an open-plan lounge/diner. There's plenty of outside space too, with a lawn at the front and a large garden to the rear with a terrace and summer house. On warm evenings, cook up a feast for everybody on the BBQ and enjoy it in the fresh air.

Icklesham is a scenic village with two welcoming pubs and its very own windmill. There's plenty to do in the surrounding area, including taking long walks through rolling hills and past the sandstone outcrops and scattered farmsteads of the High Weald. The historical port town of Rye (5 miles) has independent shops and plenty of good restaurants – make sure you visit the iconic Mermaid Street. Hastings (7.5 miles) is a wonderful option for a day out. Look around the antique shops, ride up to the cliffs on the funicular railway, then enjoy a pack of salty chips on the seafront.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

  • 6 bedrooms - 5 king-size and 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request)
  • 1 en-suite shower room, 2 en-suite bathrooms, 1 shower room and 1 separate WC
  • Gas AGA and hob, 2 additional double electric ovens, fridge/freezer and dishwasher
  • Games room with pool table and board games
  • Utility room with washing machine and tumble drier, additional fridge and microwave
  • Electric and central heating included
  • Private parking for 4 cars
  • Wi-Fi included
  • 1 dog welcome
  • Beach 3 miles, shop 2 miles and pub within walking distance
  • TV/DVD in the lounge and in each bedroom
  • Charcoal BBQ
  • Restricted headroom in the second floor bedrooms

The location of this property offers you an ideal way of exploring both the sweeping Sussex countryside, quintessential English town life, and the seaside. Head to Winchelsea Beach, a lovely 4-mile drive or walk away. Explore the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and spot some wildlife on these moody stretches of wetland or stroll through the town to mess around on the beach. A little further along the coast sits the famous Camber Sands, a great spot for a sunbathe and some fish and chips, 10 miles from the house. Heading west, explore the coast as it winds its way to Hastings. This historic seaside town sits in the shadow of the ruined Hastings Castle, famous as the stomping ground of William the Conqueror, and for its role in the 1066 battle. The town offers many opportunities for learning a bit of this fascinating history, including the Hastings History Museum.

The Old Vicarage is a lovely, large, comfortable, and relatively secluded property with plenty of outdoor spaces for all age-groups. The location enabled us to go to Winchelsea, Battle Abbey, Hastings, Brighton, and two coastal cycle rides.

We had a lovely time at the Old Vicarage. The kitchen is very well equipped, the conservatory a real sun trap and the sofas very comfortable. The children (ages from 8 to 16) had lots to keep them them occupied. They loved the garden and theres a playground within a short walk. Only one shower other than the en-suite on 1st floor was a struggle at Read moretimes but otherwise all round excellent. Hide
