This lovingly restored old showman’s carriage offers truly unique holiday accommodation perfect for a very special occasions or romantic getaways, located within stunningly beautiful rolling countryside.

This stunning showman’s carriage is located within 200 acres of farmland, under the watchful eye of the imposing Bodiam Castle. You really could not be closer to this wonderful historic sight, with its moat and extensive grounds. Also located just a few moments from the cottage is one of the stations for the vintage steam trains which run along a ten-mile route from Bodiam to the small town of Tenterden, with its high street of interesting shops and its Old Dairy Brewery where you can take a tour and taste the ales.

Originally a showman’s carriage, built in 1894, you can really feel the atmosphere of this beautifully restored property, which has found its final resting place here. Inside the carriage is a cornucopia of original features including the mahogany woodwork, tiled fireplace and imitation woodburner. In the cosy  lounge, there is even a TV with DVD player and a CD player and gas heater, so there is no need to forego your creature comforts. To one end of the carriage is the cosy and romantic raised bed, which is slightly smaller than a regular double. The kitchen and bathroom are each located in two adjacent buildings which are right outside. The thatched kitchen/dining room has everything you will need including a sink, small cooker, fridge and a small railway-style table, which has stunning views to the countryside beyond. The bathroom is a wet room with shower and is found on the opposite side of the decked area to the kitchen.

Outside the carriage is a raised decked-area which has an secluded enclosed veranda, from which to enjoy  views across to Bodiam Castle. This space provides a wonderful outdoor living space, with comfortable wicker chairs and table.

Quaint and unique stay in lovely peaceful surroundings. Our large dog was very comfortable. There are no local shops etc, so unless you want to drive, its better to eat at the local pub, also dog friendly, or make sure you have some provisions. The Hub is very close for daytime needs. John was a great host and provided plenty of support.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable time at the Prince Regent. It is wonderfully planned and we loved the thatched and beamed kitchen, comfy sofas and exquisitely decorated bedroom and lounge. Wonderful location for a relaxing weekend, just what we wanted. We got a very warm and informative welcome, all we needed to know. Lots to do in the area, but also perfect for just chillin out and reading a pile of books. As we took our dog, we spent time enjoying all the walks in the area. Returned home relaxed and refreshed.
