This lovingly restored old showman’s carriage offers truly unique holiday accommodation perfect for a very special occasions or romantic getaways, located within stunningly beautiful rolling countryside.

This stunning showman’s carriage is located within 200 acres of farmland, under the watchful eye of the imposing Bodiam Castle. You really could not be closer to this wonderful historic sight, with its moat and extensive grounds. Also located just a few moments from the cottage is one of the stations for the vintage steam trains which run along a ten-mile route from Bodiam to the small town of Tenterden, with its high street of interesting shops and its Old Dairy Brewery where you can take a tour and taste the ales.

Originally a showman’s carriage, built in 1894, you can really feel the atmosphere of this beautifully restored property, which has found its final resting place here. Inside the carriage is a cornucopia of original features including the mahogany woodwork, tiled fireplace and imitation woodburner. In the cosy  lounge, there is even a TV with DVD player and a CD player and gas heater, so there is no need to forego your creature comforts. To one end of the carriage is the cosy and romantic raised bed, which is slightly smaller than a regular double. The kitchen and bathroom are each located in two adjacent buildings which are right outside. The thatched kitchen/dining room has everything you will need including a sink, small cooker, small fridge and a small railway-style table, which has stunning views to the countryside beyond. The bathroom is a wet room with shower and is found on the opposite side of the decked area to the kitchen.

Outside the carriage is a raised decked-area which has an secluded enclosed veranda, from which to enjoy  views across to Bodiam Castle. This space provides a wonderful outdoor living space, with comfortable wicker chairs and table.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break. So relaxing. Prince Alfred was quite charming and full of character with spectacular views. Despite the inclement weather on two days, we were very cosy and warm. The Prince Regent has been on our holiday list for a few years. The fabulously ornate van boasts wonderful views, and the site is perfect for walks with the dog.The sound system piped to the verandah and kitchen is a bonus, and the bathrobes are a nice touch. The shower is excellent. The armchairs on the veranda are nice to sink into after a tiringRead more day, and have a quick snooze. Its well placed for visits to places of interest. We used the Hub for tea, coffee, cake and wi-fi access. Hide

Kind of quirky and different, very cosy inside, bit cold outside but what should we expect in the UK in April? Fantastic view of Bodiam Castle and lovely cider... a nice weekend break.

We had the absolute best time, a beautiful well stocked arrival basket was a lovely touch. The Carriage is lovely, really quirky and has a great view of Bodiam Castle. It is just as the pictures show. I know the owner is going to be doing some updates but we hope it keeps its style and charm, we are sure it will. John is a great host, always about Read morethe farm and loves a chat. A lovely 5 night break and everything so close, so much to see, we shall return. Thank you and all the best. Hide

We had a lovely week in this charming, unique carriage. It was beautifully ornate and sitting out on the verandah on the very comfy couch overlooking the gorgeous countryside was a delight! This was a lovely step back in time. The carriage has been lovingly restored. The kitchen and bathroom areas are separate but feel part of the accommodation due to the lovely covered verandah. John and his team put a lot effort in to making the whole experience a good one. The welcome packs are a nice touch.
