This cosy cottage is in an idyllic location and ideally suited for walkers and couples wanting to explore the abundance of historic towns and Sussex coastline, just a short distance away.

Ideally situated on the edge of the pretty Kent village of Lamberhurst, this cute cottage surrounded by rolling green countryside is the perfect romantic retreat for two. Located in the owner’s grounds, it sleeps two people in one bedroom and welcomes one canine companion, making it the ideal accommodation choice for couples who want to escape the city and explore the peaceful Kent and Sussex countryside.

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a welcoming hallway that leads to a bright and airy living room/kitchen/diner. The chic, compact kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare a romantic meal for two. Eat in the intimate dining area or step outside, light up the charcoal BBQ and dine alfresco in the garden. The country views from the garden are simply fabulous. After dinner, snuggle up on the sofa in the living area and catch up on your favourite TV shows before retiring to the lovely bedroom for a peaceful night’s sleep. In the morning, peek out of the bedroom window and you’ll be met with gorgeous country views.

Take a romantic stroll around the wooded estate at Scotney Castle (2.5 miles). There you’ll find a wonderful garden with a view of a 14th-century moated castle and a Victorian country mansion. The central feature is the fairy-tale ruin of Old Scotney Castle, which sits on an island on a small lake. There’s also a nice tearoom in a converted coach house. Alternatively, take a trip to the historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells (7.5 miles). There you can go shopping in the wonderfully classy Pantiles, enjoy lunch in a cool eatery, or take a tour of the area’s wineries.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The cottage was very clean and up to date in a beautiful but remote location. We felt the closeness of the amenities ie pubs and shops had been misleading in the advertising as for us it meant always using the car. Having said that though the grounds were beautiful.

White Magpie Cottage was a great place to stay. The location was beautiful & so peaceful. The owners were on hand if needed. There are plenty of local walks and The Vineyard pub/restaurant, serving great food, was approx. 20-25 minute walk across the fields. Ideal place for a holiday with a dog as most local pubs & restaurants welcome them. We defiRead morenitely want to go back again. Hide

This cottage is in a beautiful location with countryside walks directly from the garden. Although in the grounds of the owners' house, it was quite private and there was ample parking space.

We had a fabulous 7 day break at White Magpie Cottage. The accommodation was very clean, warm and cosy and the location of the cottage is absolutely stunning. The lake which is in clear view from the back of the cottage attracts several different types of wildlife. We enjoyed many walks along the public footpaths that are accessible straight from tRead morehe door. We have already recommended this as a lovely holiday destination to our friends. Hide

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely couple of nights away in the White Magpie, it was a stormy weekend and the cottage was perfectly warm and snug, and when the weather broke we were in walking distance from some great local pubs for a some good food at the Elephant's Head and the Old Vineyard. Would definitely like to come back.

The cottage is well equipped but has no oven - it was a microwave/oven/grill. Basic but clean. Owners very friendly and Answered any questions/concerns quickly. The phone signal is bad in the village but there is wifi at the cottage. Be prepared to drive to pubs to eat - but worth the drive.
