This pretty holiday cottage provides stunning accommodation in a peaceful rural location, close to the village of Staplecross, perfect for exploring the idyllic Sussex countryside

This exceptionally pretty cottage is situated in the heart of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just south of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, it is an idyllic spot for couples or a small family looking for a relaxing retreat in the Sussex countryside.

This elegant cottage with its simple yet stylish decor offers a calm and welcoming space. There is a lovely dining area downstairs with charming pieces of period furniture and a cosy sofa for two at one end. The adjacent well-equipped kitchen is clean and fresh with bright blue wall tiles and has everything you could need for some home cooking while you are away. Also downstairs is a pretty king-size bedroom that overlooks the lovely garden and has a spacious en-suite bathroom. Upstairs on the first floor is a lovely, light and airy lounge with clean, fresh decor and splashes of colour. The wooden floor, comfy sofas and an electric fire ensure some cosy evenings in. Also upstairs, is another relaxing king-size bedroom, tastefully decorated and with a light and airy en-suite. Outside, the beautifully tended cottage garden is a delight. Enjoy a refreshing drink on the patio and take in the lovely view of the fields beyond before lighting the BBQ for an al fresco meal.

The cottage is within easy reach of some lovely walks in the High Weald AONB. With the picturesque town of Rye just 11 miles away, days at the coast are also an option. The beautiful house and gardens at Great Dixter (5 miles), once the home of the gardening writer Christopher Lloyd, are well worth a visit for the horticulturally-minded. Alternatively, take a drive to the historic village of Battle (6 miles), named for the famous battle of 1066 where you can visit the ruined Abbey of St Martin and enjoy a stroll around the shops and restaurants.

Spacious, fully-equipped and comfortable in scenic, rural location with a pleasant garden. Owners are next door in case of need but they do not intrude. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Highly recommended.

Wisteria cottage was an beautiful, clean and homely place to stay. A lovely welcome basket with essential items, bread, milk, eggs homemade jam and apple juice. The surrounding area has lots of varied places to go. The hosts Jane and Hugh are very helpful. Looking forward to visiting again

Well equipped, modernised cottage in stunning rural location with high quality decor and fittings. The boiler struggles to keep up with 2 baths running but overall would highly recommend

This is an excellent cottage, very well-equipped and furnished and in an ideal location to visit this lovely area. Plenty of parking space and lots of room inside. Beautiful gardens and nice seating area outside. Only drawback is not much in immediate area - one of the two pubs in walking distance was closed! Need to drive to find places to eat. The house is beautifully situated on a quiet country lane and has a very attractive garden. It is well appointed, very clean and comfortable and ideal for two couples. The location is excellent for exploring the area. The only down side was the description of the house being "within walking distance of a shop and pub". Whilst technically correct, iRead moret is not a pleasant stroll by any means and involves walking for several hundred yards on a busy B road. Hide
